Title: Principal Embedded Software Engineer (P5)
Location: Ireland
Hiring Manager: Chad Wentworth
About Our Team
Today's world is filled with complex processors being tasked to do more and more. Whether it's advanced hearing devices, green energy solutions, intelligent motion control, immersive audio platforms, precision electrification systems, or advanced warning systems, our customers are building the future on Analog Devices processors. Using ADI's development tools, the Development Tools Engineering (DTE) team strives to give our customers a development experience that allows them not only to create incredible products, but to produce them faster than ever before.
Who We Are Looking For
Analog Devices, Inc. is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer with deep, industry-recognized expertise in debugger platform architecture, low-level firmware, and embedded Linux across diverse processor architectures. In the Development Tools Engineering team, you will serve as a technical authority — setting long-term architectural direction, driving cross-functional alignment, and shaping the tools that thousands of customers worldwide rely on every day. We are looking for a proven technical leader who can influence at the organizational level, represent ADI externally with customers and standards bodies, and raise the bar for the engineers around them.
Who You Are
You are a recognized expert in your field — someone others seek out for guidance on the hardest problems. You think across the full stack, from silicon register definitions to ecosystem-level developer experience, and you have a track record of making decisions that scale. You have driven architectural strategy across multiple product generations, cultivated engineering talent, and built lasting relationships with key customers and partners. You thrive in an environment where ambiguity is an opportunity, complexity is the job, and technical excellence is non-negotiable. You lead by example, communicate with clarity across all levels of the organization, and leave every system — and every team — better than you found it.
A Day in the Life
In this role, no two days are the same. You will help set the architectural vision for ADI's debugger platforms — spanning SHARC, ARM, and RISC-V cores — while staying close enough to the code to make authoritative technical decisions. You will lead the definition and evolution of debug infrastructure from the ground up. You will drive strategy for heterogeneous multi-core debug, own relationships with ADI's most technically demanding customers on complex integration challenges, and provide architectural governance across build, automation, and CI/CD workflows. You will also represent DTE in cross-divisional technical forums and contribute to the long-term roadmap of ADI's development tools ecosystem.
