Data Architect

Job's mission

In support of ASM’s growth ambition and digital transformation strategy, there is a need to further improve and leverage data as a foundation for business value, operational scalability, analytics, process intelligence, automation and Artificial Intelligence. Across new product introductions, to manufacturing, to services and spares, the Data Architect links business operations, data platforms and technologies through a clear data architecture.

The Data Architect will be part of ASM’s Global Digital Transformation organization, within the Data & AI Intelligence capability. The architect will translate business priorities into scalable data architecture, and practical data solutions required to support ASM’s next phase of growth. In short, the architect will own the enterprise data architecture.

The Data Architect has a healthy degree of business acumen and is driven to understand how ASM operates. ASM is growing fast, and we are searching for a Data Architect who can help us to scale up and enable business outcomes.

What you will be working on

Own ASM’s Data Architecture

  • Define and govern ASM's Enterprise Data Architecture Framework, including reference architecture, standards, guardrails and reusable playbooks.
  • Define how key platforms such as Databricks, SAP, Teamcenter, Salesforce and Celonis fit together in ASM’s target data architecture.
  • Drive architectural consistency, reuse and simplification across all data platforms and business domains.
  • Identify and reduce data architecture debt, duplicate capabilities, inconsistent data models and unnecessary platform fragmentation.
  • Lead architecture reviews, and peer reviews to ensure solution designs follow enterprise data architecture standards and deliver measurable business impact.

Design Trusted and AI-Ready Data Foundations

  • Define architectural patterns for data products, integration, interoperability and data sharing across domains.
  • Design trusted data foundations supporting analytics, business intelligence, machine learning, GenAI, Agentic AI, process intelligence and automation use cases.
  • Design scalable, secure, reusable, and cost-effective data architectures across lakehouse, warehouse, data lake, streaming, near-real-time, event-driven, operational, and analytical platforms.
  • Embed security and compliance by design (classification, retention, trade compliance, access etc.) in partnership with Cyber Security, AI Governance, Enterprise Architecture and Legal.
  • Ensure architecture-by-design for data quality, consistency, accuracy, completeness, lineage, integrity, observability, auditability, and explainability across all layers.

Partner, Influence and Innovate

  • Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, quality, services, and other teams to translate priorities into scalable solutions.
  • Work with Digital Transformation Business Partners to translate business outcomes, process needs, analytical needs, and value opportunities into scalable and reusable data architecture solutions.
  • Ensure architecture decisions are practical to adopt by the various teams, including documentation, and reusable templates.

Be a Subject Matter Expert

  • Support the establishing of the vision for managing data as a business asset, and to maximize the return on data assets.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously evolve ASM's data and AI capabilities.
  • Support the fostering of the creation of a data-driven culture, related competencies and data literacy across ASM.

About ASM

At ASM, we’re shaping the future at the atomic level. We enable the next generation of microchips by empowering leading semiconductor manufacturers with advanced wafer processing equipment.

Through our mastery of thin-film deposition, we create the innovative tools and solutions that shape the materials at the heart of tomorrow’s technology – powering everything from AI and next-generation healthcare to cloud computing and smarter, more energy-efficient devices.

With over 4,600 people representing more than 60 nationalities across 15 locations worldwide, we’re united by one ambition: to stay ahead of what’s next. And with research centers in seven countries and nearly a quarter of our people and profits devoted to research and development, excellence is our baseline, not our finish line.

Our pioneering thin-film deposition technologies – like atomic layer deposition, epitaxy, silicon carbide, chemical vapor deposition and vertical furnaces – help our customers push the limits of performance, speed, and efficiency. Our strong patent portfolio, flat organization, and agile way of working enable fast collaboration, global mobility, and a competitive edge far beyond our scale.

Every day, we work to make integrated circuits smaller, faster, more energy-efficient, and more powerful. Together, we’re advancing technologies that unlock new potential and improve lives.
