  • You’ll harness your extensive experience (Cloud and AI models to enhance financial services) and role model engineering best-practices to guide and manage the delivery of technically challenging projects with extraordinary scale, scope and complexity.

  • Application Security by integrating DevSecOps and security patterns to meet rigorous financial regulatory standards and safeguard data integrity.

  • Proven track record in full-cycle system design and development, optimizing infrastructure, and ability to influence cross-functional technical teams.

  • You can expect to grow your network and gain significant exposure both for you and your work, as you lead multiple teams to engineer innovative solutions and technology designs across the bank for our customers and colleagues

What you'll do

With a fine blend of hands-on and hands-off engineering, you’ll coordinate, support and guide your teams to design and engineer software, scripts and tools that are customer centric, high performing, secure and robust. And with a sharp focus on opportunities for automation, you’ll create efficiency where it doesn’t already exist by exploring and anticipating the impact of strategic challenges, and developing the proposed strategy, architecture and roadmap to drive them forward. Lead the design and delivery of highly scalable, resilient, and performant cloud-native solutions

You’ll also be responsible for:

  • Developing and executing a cohesive strategy that aligns product, design and business priorities, and converting these into technological solutions

  • Empowering and enabling your teams to grow by facilitating discussions, sharing insights, driving collaboration, and guiding the direction of work

  • Working with software engineers to prototype innovative ideas, and engaging with our architects to validate and leverage them across the bank

  • Drives adoption of AI, machine learning, and emerging agentic platforms to transform financial services capabilities

  • Developing design patterns, advocating our design principles and methodologies, and signposting the latest trends, technologies and tools

  • Enhancing our software engineering capability and inspiring our community of engineers to fulfil their potential by facilitating internal mobility, shaping career paths and coaching talent

The skills you'll need

As a senior engineer, you’ll bring a wealth of practical experience and technical knowledge to this role. From knowledge of our applications, interfaces, services and platforms, to hands-on experience developing and implementing deployment patterns, application tooling and legacy and industry-leading technologies, you’ll have the knowledge, skills and insights to support and guide your teams to engineer innovative, value-adding solutions. Translates complex business requirements into actionable technical strategies

And, by harnessing your ability to engage and rally people around a tech cause, you’ll enable success at both a team and executive level and make a long-lasting impact through your work.

You'll demonstrate:

  • Excellent leadership and management skills

  • Embeds security-first engineering practices by championing DevSecOps, secure coding, and architectural security patterns to meet stringent financial regulatory requirements and protect critical data assets

  • Significant experience of leading software development teams, executing strategies and implementing programming best practice

  • Expertise in multiple high-level programming languages

  • Great interpersonal and relationship building skills

  • Good communication skills
