CAI Business Units and the Markets We Serve

CAI Software is organized into three business units - Graphic Communications, Process Manufacturing, and Discrete Manufacturing – aligned to the markets we serve. This structure allows our teams to stay close to customer needs while operating with the scale and support of a global software company.

This role is part of our Process Manufacturing business unit, which provides ERP and operational software to manufacturers that transform raw materials into finished goods through formulas, recipes, or batch-driven processes. We work with small to enterprise manufacturers across industries such as food and beverage, bottling, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, chemicals, paint, paper, tile, and supply chain logistics—supporting end-to-end operations from sourcing through production and distribution.

About the Role

The Principal Engineer is responsible for defining and leading the technical strategy for migrating legacy logistics and customs platforms to modern, cloud-native architectures. This role establishes architectural standards, drives AI-enabled engineering practices, and ensures scalable product expansion into additional markets. What You’ll Do

• Define target architecture for migration to .NET (Core/6/8+) cloud-based systems. • Lead system decomposition from monolithic to modular or microservices architectures. • Establish REST API standards, security patterns, and versioning strategies. • Architect scalable Angular (v17+) frontend frameworks. • Design enterprise-grade data models using Entity Framework and SQL Server. • Establish standards for unit, integration, and automated testing. • Drive AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate modernization. • Mentor engineering teams and guide architectural decisions. • Partner with Product and leadership on market expansion strategy. What We’re Looking For

• Industry experience in logistics and global customs strongly

• 10+ years of software engineering experience. • Deep expertise in C# / .NET (Core/6/8+). • Strong REST API and distributed systems experience. • Advanced Angular experience. • Strong SQL Server and data architecture expertise. • Experience leading cloud migration initiatives. • Logistics or compliance-driven domain experience preferred.
