We're seeking a Principal Engineer for a high-impact role building AI-driven automation at scale across one of our most critical global technology programs.

Make no mistake: this goes far beyond a standard QA automation or pipeline role. You will architect, build and deploy the next generation of automation capability using the latest AI and agentic solutions, productised and delivered as a high-performance, multi-tenant SaaS platform.

The mandate is to move the program from scheduled, manually coordinated releases toward true continuous delivery - an engineering-led approach where software is designed for testability, automated assurance is built into delivery, and release confidence increasingly comes from evidence generated continuously throughout the software development lifecycle.

Working across multiple engineering squads, you'll set the target delivery model, build the reference implementations yourself, and leave behind sustainable practices that engineering teams can continue to mature.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the technical strategy and target architecture for our AI-driven automation platforms, using state-of-the-art agentic solutions to intelligently automate complex business processes.
• Harness GenAI and agentic workflows to drive autonomous business logic, integrating models securely and efficiently into our processes.
• Own the continuous delivery strategy and target technical state across Engineering, QA and DevOps, establishing clear ownership for how software is built, verified and released from refinement through to production.
• Make quality an engineering responsibility, embedding testability, automated coverage and quality considerations into refinement, solution design, development and code review rather than relying on a downstream testing phase.
• Make release a business decision, not an engineering event - feature flagging, progressive rollout, and dormant deployment ahead of feature release.
• Accelerate automated test coverage in the areas that provide the greatest release confidence and reduction in manual regression effort, while ensuring automation remains reliable, maintainable and meaningful.
• Strengthen CI/CD practices with Engineering and DevOps, including branching and integration strategies, automated pipelines, feature management, progressive deployment and consistent promotion across environments.
• Build reference implementations and engineering standards for automated testing, test architecture, pipeline integration and quality gates that squads can adopt consistently.
• Stay hands-on, prototyping difficult solutions, contributing to automation and pipeline implementation, reviewing code and architecture, and solving engineering problems where testability, deployability or reliability are at stake.
• Use quality and delivery metrics to demonstrate progress.
• Influence senior technical and non-technical stakeholders, including enterprise clients, translating quality risk and delivery cadence into commercial language.
• Partner with product, engineering and data teams to align delivery with commercial outcomes and ensure the AI products drive tangible ROI.

What You Bring

• Deep software engineering experience with the technical credibility to work directly with senior engineers, Tech Leads, QA engineers and DevOps specialists.
• Practical, hands-on experience designing and building systems that integrate advanced AI models, LLMs and agentic workflows to automate real-world processes.
• Demonstrated experience leading a significant continuous delivery transformation, moving teams from predominantly manual or phase-based testing toward automated, engineering-owned quality.
• Strong, current CI/CD experience, including build and deployment pipelines, source control and branching strategies, feature management and progressive delivery practices.
• A strong full-stack engineering background, ideally with technologies such as React, Node.js and TypeScript.
• Comfort operating in a global, multi-market and multi-tenant product environment where production stability and enterprise client confidence are critical.
• Extensive experience deploying and operating scalable workloads on cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Excellent communication skills, from detailed technical discussions through to senior executive and client conversations.
• A self-starter who thrives on ambiguity, breaks new ground, and actively seeks out difficult engineering constraints.
