HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. Guided by our purpose of opening up a world of opportunity, our ambition is to become the world’s most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do.
This role is the engineering excellence anchor across CTO Foundations within Analytics and Common Components. As Principal Engineer, you will shape technical strategy and set high standards for design and code across a portfolio of agile teams that support HSBC’s global businesses across all regions. The focus includes containerisation for multiple cloud deployments and an inner source pattern-based approach that improves consistency and reusability across domains including Risk and Finance. Success means shipping high quality software efficiently with automation built in from the start to reduce toil. You’ll influence senior stakeholders on technology direction while keeping delivery aligned to HSBC Technology’s strategic vision. The role stays hands-on with coding as a core part of how outcomes are achieved.
This is a chance to shape how engineering is done across a foundational technology area that enables teams across regions and businesses. The work will raise consistency and reusability through patterns and services while improving quality and efficiency through automation and engineering discipline.
You’ll influence technology direction with senior stakeholders and stay close to the work through hands-on coding. If you want your designs and code to make the bank better faster and safer this role gives you the scope to do it.
