
Principal Mechanical Engineer
As a Principal Engineer, you will work with a team of mechanical engineers to provide products to advanced power plant designs including Small Modular Reactors and Generation IV nuclear power plants, as well as existing power plants with decades of operating experience, in both domestic and international markets. In this role, you will perform design, analysis, product development, and qualification related engineering work. In a fast paced and high demand environment, under minimal supervision, you will contribute to the development of technical solutions for emerging problems in both existing and first-of-a-kind products. The position involves working with valves, actuators, and other flow control devices, mechanical equipment, rotary equipment, and structural components utilized in commercial nuclear power plants.
Location: Remote/Hybrid
Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000

Your Challenges:
Performing structural/stress, thermal, or seismic/dynamic analyses on valves, actuators, and similar mechanical equipment, under a variety or conditions and scenarios.
Creation of reports that document the results of analyses performed, to accepted industry standards, with the highest levels of professionalism.
Reviewing complex systems and product components to ensure compliance to environmental qualification criteria, performance, and regulatory requirements.
Advise on material selections appropriate for design conditions and performance requirements.
Developing innovative solutions based on internal or external customer specification requirements.
Working with other teams to improve new and existing designs based on analysis results.
When required, communicating with customers to identify potential solutions that can be provided to existing problems and the business opportunities therein.
Your Expertise:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BS with 10+/MS with 7+/PhD with 5+) years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience in Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS highly preferred).
Demonstrated experience in pressure vessel, and metallic component analysis.
Experience with valve and/or actuator design and analysis.
Experience with at least one of the following ASME BPVC Section III (NB, NCD, NF, NE, or HBB), Section VIII Division 1 or Division 2, or Section I.
Familiarity with IEEE 323, 344, 382 is a plus.
Familiarity with ANSI/AISC N690 is a plus.
Familiarity with parametric modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
Experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics is a plus.
Experience in the nuclear industry is a plus.
Professional engineering licensure in the US or Canada.
