Job Description

This is a provisional appointment.

Under the general supervision and direction of the Principal Electrical Engineer, the Street Lighting Division is responsible for all work required as related to the preparation and completion of street lighting programs.

Responsibilities

  • Updating and modifying the existing systems in connection with the installation and operation of the city-owned lighting system, as installed by the city or contractual forces, under the direct jurisdiction of the Public Works Department, as requested or recommended by the Associate Electrical Engineer and as approved by the Commissioner of Public Works.
  • Supervises Inspectors and Maintenance workers.
  • The Principal Electrical Engineer shall assume the duties of the Associate Electrical Engineer during his/her absence.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications

  • Applicants must have at least five (5) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, technical or professional experience in the field of electrical engineering, of which at least three (3) years must have been in a professional capacity and of which at least one (1) year must have been in a supervisory, managerial, or administrative role.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
  • A Massachusetts Driver's License is required.
