Australia’s renewable energy market has moved beyond early adoption and into full-scale capital deployment. Infrastructure funds, IPPs and private developers are competing to originate, acquire and finance utility-scale wind, solar and BESS projects across the country. This is a capital-driven market, and the demand for high-calibre investment and development talent continues to accelerate.

Brunel’s Renewables & Utilities division is expanding into the Investment & Development space and we are seeking a Principal Consultant to build and lead this specialist desk nationally. This vertical focuses exclusively on front-end project development and capital allocation roles.

The Opportunity

This desk operates at the strategic end of renewable energy, partnering with developers, infrastructure funds and investment-backed platforms driving projects from origination through to financial close.

You will take ownership of a 360 recruitment desk covering:

• Development Directors and Development Managers
• Senior leaders responsible for identifying new project opportunities, managing feasibility, securing land, navigating planning approvals and progressing projects through development milestones to ready-to-build status.
• Investment Managers and Investment Analysts
• Capital-focused professionals responsible for financial modelling, project valuation, due diligence, transaction execution and portfolio management across renewable assets.
• Project Origination Specialists
• Professionals focused on identifying pipeline opportunities, securing early-stage project rights, negotiating land agreements and building long-term development strategies.
• Commercial and Strategy Roles
• Leaders driving PPA negotiations, offtake strategy, risk management, market entry strategy and long-term commercial positioning for renewable portfolios.
• You will operate across both permanent and contract mandates while building relationships directly with executive and board-level stakeholders.

The Support Structure

This desk sits within a national Renewables & Power team and benefits from established energy market relationships. You will be building within a framework, not from scratch.

You will be supported by:

• Existing relationships across renewable developers and energy market participants
• A dedicated Business Development Manager connected across the energy sector
• Leadership with over 10 years operating in energy and infrastructure recruitment
• National collaboration across Renewables, Power and Utilities verticals

What We Are Looking For

This role requires a commercially mature recruiter who can operate credibly at a strategic level. You must be comfortable engaging with senior development and investment professionals and understand the capital drivers behind renewable energy projects.

You will ideally bring:

• Proven 360 recruitment experience
• Exposure to renewables, infrastructure, energy or property development markets
• Strong executive-level stakeholder engagement capability
• The ability to map capital-backed organisations strategically
• A disciplined, performance-driven mindset
