  • Provide senior technical leadership on electrical engineering, grid connection, power system studies and compliance with national grid codes and utility requirements (e.g. TNB, PLN and SP Group).
  • Act as engagement director and senior point of contact for key clients, setting scope, schedule, quality and communication expectations and resolving escalated technical and commercial issues.
  • Review and approve IE, LTA, technical advisor (TA) and due diligence reports, ensuring technical accuracy, consistency and quality before they are issued to clients and financiers.
  • Drive business development in ASEAN by finding opportunities, building long-term relationships with developers, IPPs, investors, lenders, utilities and corporate offtakers, and converting pursuits into awarded work.
  • Lead proposals, defining the scope of work, delivery approach, team, programme, budget, assumptions, risk allocation and commercial terms; review contract terms with internal legal and commercial teams.
  • Help shape the regional strategy and service offering in line with ASEAN energy transition priorities, including utility procurement programmes, corporate renewable energy schemes, energy storage and cross-border power interconnection.

  • Assess CAPEX and OPEX, benchmark costs against regional market data, and advise clients on opportunities to improve value, bankability and risk allocation.
  • Oversee delivery performance, budget, programme, utilization, quality and project risks across a portfolio of engagements, and report clearly to clients and regional management.
  • Lead, mentor and develop consultants and engineers, plan resources across the region, and coordinate with multidisciplinary specialists and global centres of excellence.
  • Represent UL Solutions as a thought leader at industry conferences, client workshops, webinars and industry associations, and contribute to technical publications and market insights.
  • Champion continuous improvement by driving the use of digital tools, templates, methods and lessons learned that improve delivery efficiency, quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline; registration as a Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), the Professional Engineers Board Singapore (PEB), or an equivalent body is an advantage.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in renewable energy, including significant experience in technical advisory, independent engineering, lender’s engineering or owner’s engineering roles.
  • Deep expertise in solar PV (utility-scale, floating and C&I rooftop) and BESS; experience with onshore or offshore wind and hybrid projects would be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of renewable power plant electrical systems, including substations, HV interconnection, power system studies, grid code compliance and electrical interfaces.
  • A track record of leading technical due diligence and energy yield assessments for project finance, Merger & Acquisition and portfolio transactions, and of explaining technical findings and their commercial implications to senior stakeholders.
  • Solid working knowledge of EPC, equipment supply, O&M and PPA contracts, together with experience reviewing CAPEX and OPEX assumptions.
  • Proven business development ability, including an established network in the ASEAN renewables market, success in winning proposals and negotiating fees, and responsibility for revenue targets.
  • Good understanding of energy policy, regulation, grid requirements and procurement frameworks in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring multidisciplinary teams and managing a portfolio of engagements in a matrix, geographically dispersed organization.
  • Ability to work effectively across cultures, time zones and regulatory environments, and willingness to travel regularly within ASEAN, including site visits.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia or Mandarin would be advantageous.
  • Executive presence with excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills, sound commercial judgement, and the ability to lead in a fast-paced consulting environment.
