Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Power BI Developer / BI Engineer with 5–10 years of experience in building scalable analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Power BI, solid data engineering fundamentals, and hands-on experience with Python and SQL for building data pipelines, transforming datasets, and enabling reliable reporting and dashboards. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and product teams to deliver actionable insights and robust BI solutions.

Power BI Development & BI Delivery

• Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports using best practices for usability, performance, and governance.
• Build and optimize data models (star schema, dimensional modeling), measures, and calculated columns using DAX
• Implement advanced report features: drill-through, tooltips, bookmarks, RLS, KPI cards, and custom visuals.
• Manage Power BI Service workspaces, datasets, gateways, deployment pipelines, refresh schedules, and security.

Data Engineering & Pipeline Enablement

• Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries (joins, window functions, CTEs, performance tuning).
• Develop and maintain data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using Python and/or tools (ADF, SSIS, dbt, Airflow—depending on environment).
• Perform data ingestion from multiple sources (APIs, files, databases) and ensure data quality checks/validation.
• Work with structured/semi-structured data formats: CSV, JSON, Parquet, etc.

Optimization, Quality & Governance

• Improve report performance using query folding, aggregations, incremental refresh, partitioning, and model optimizations.
• Implement data quality rules, monitoring, reconciliation, and documentation.
• Maintain BI standards for naming conventions, versioning, reusable datasets, and common semantic layers.
• Provide support for production issues (refresh failures, gateway issues, performance bottlenecks).

Stakeholder & Requirement Management

• Gather business requirements, translate them into technical designs, and deliver meaningful insights.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define KPIs, metrics, and definitions for a single source of truth.
• Create documentation: data dictionaries, dashboard user guides, and technical specs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must Have

• 5–10 years experience in BI / Analytics / Reporting roles, with strong focus on Power BI
• Strong hands-on expertise in:
  • Power BI Desktop & Service
  • DAX (measures, context, time intelligence)
  • Power Query (M) for transformations
• Strong SQL skills (complex queries + optimization).
• Hands-on development in Python for data engineering tasks (pandas, requests, ETL scripts).
• Strong understanding of:
  • Data modeling (star schema, fact/dim tables)
  • ETL/ELT concepts
  • Data validation and quality checks
• Experience integrating Power BI with enterprise data sources (SQL Server, Azure SQL, Snowflake, Databricks, etc.)

Good to Have

• Experience with Azure services (ADF, Synapse, Databricks, ADLS) or similar cloud stack (AWS/GCP).
• Experience with CI/CD for BI (Power BI deployment pipelines, Azure DevOps, Git).
• Experience with data governance tools, cataloging, and lineage.
• Exposure to SSAS Tabular, Power BI datasets as semantic layer, or Fabric
• Knowledge of REST APIs, authentication methods, and automation scripts.
