Job Description

The Principal Commercial Specialist interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices. They will be tasked with solving complex Commercial-related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance. The Principal Commercial Specialist may be responsible for leading functional teams or projects and is regarded as a specialist in Commercial. As such, they must have in-depth expertise in Commercial and broad knowledge of the Commercial Discipline within the Commercial Function.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain knowledge of key prospects within the Commercial Function
  • Participate in bid strategy development and execution
  • Analyze market and competition data for integration into sales strategies
  • Assist with the assessment of potential business opportunities, through proposal development and prime contract negotiation and award
  • Support Commercial Leadership in presentations to executive audiences (Project briefings and Proposals Gates 1 to 3 Meetings)
  • Assist with the identification and process of changes
  • Assist in functional assessments and the continuous improvement process
  • Adhere to best practice processes and accompanying tools and systems to support early engagement, pursuit, and execution
  • Support the Sales and Tender Teams

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred), Business or related disciplines
  • Ten plus (10+) years of experience in a similar position in the oil & gas industry
  • Extensive experience in offshore oil and gas organization and various functions within the organization
  • Excellent communication, strong selling, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Ability to analyze information and problem solve
  • Knowledgeable in Commercial (contractual), financial, and risk principles
  • Highly developed time management ability, to ensure deadlines are met
  • Ability to work as a Team Member as well as act as a Team Leader
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Computer literate and has experience using data visualization and customer relationship management software
  • Skilled in MS Office products
