About Skylo

Skylo is a global Non-Terrestrial Network service provider based in Mountain View, CA, offering a service that allows smartphone and IoT cellular devices to connect directly over existing satellites. Skylo’s direct-to-device service is now live on millions of activated devices across five continents, with more than 60 million square kilometers of coverage, in partnership with multiple satellite operators, mobile network operators (MNOs), Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs. Devices connected over satellite are managed and served by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, featuring a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. Skylo provides an anywhere, anytime connectivity solution that seamlessly roams between terrestrial and satellite networks. Our focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows across three main verticals: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT.

This role is located at Bangalore,India where we are onsite at least 3 days a week in the office.

Of How You Will Impact Skylo

Skylo is hiring a Principal Cloud Architect to help fulfill Skylo’s mission of making satellite connectivity available to all. As a senior leader within the Enterprise Systems & Security team, you will be the technical authority responsible for the robust cloud, data, and AI infrastructure that powers our global operations. You will design and implement the scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud foundations that enable our hybrid network connectivity to roam seamlessly between terrestrial and satellite networks.

How You Will Contribute

• Cloud Architecture & Strategy: Design and implement robust, scalable, and reliable cloud-based solutions while developing long-term strategies that align with Skylo’s global business goals.
• Infrastructure Optimization: Oversee cloud infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and availability, identifying continuous opportunities to enhance resource utilization.
• Cloud Security & Compliance: Establish and maintain rigorous security protocols for cloud resources (GCP/AWS), ensuring compliance with industry standards and safeguarding our digital assets.
• Cost Management: Lead cost optimization initiatives, including monitoring, rightsizing, and identifying underutilized resources to reduce infrastructure overhead.
• IAM & API Management: Streamline Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and optimize API management workflows and costs using Apigee or alternative platforms.
• Disaster Recovery: Design and implement high-availability disaster recovery and backup strategies to minimize downtime and ensure service continuity.
• Technology Leadership: Serve as a subject matter expert, staying ahead of cloud technology advancements to provide recommendations that enhance Skylo's internal platform services.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with development, operations, and business teams to ensure the seamless delivery of cloud services across our 24x7 commercial network.

What We Look For

• Experience: 15+ years of experience in cloud architecture and infrastructure management.
• Technical Expertise: Deep proficiency in designing and maintaining complex cloud environments, specifically within AWS or GCP ecosystems.
• Certifications: Advanced professional certifications in AWS or GCP cloud architecture.
• Specialized Skills: Hands-on experience with IAM, API management (Apigee), and infrastructure automation tools.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead complex technology initiatives and provide technical mentorship to engineering teams.
• Industry Context: Experience in telecommunications, satellite networks, or high-scale IoT environments is a significant plus.
