Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The principal coordinator for the Neurology clerkship, in collaboration with the clerkship chair, is responsible for the administrative management of the clerkship across all affiliate sites during this required educational experience for 2nd year medical students at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. In partnership with the clerkship chair, the principal coordinator maintains accreditation standards and serves as a liaison between medical students; dean’s office staff, and faculty and staff at multiple affiliate campuses. The principal coordinator may also serve as site coordinator for clerkship activities for UCLA-based students. The principal coordinator supports, develops, initiates and/or directs a wide range of programmatic activities including but not limited to: long- and short-term curricular planning; project management; coordinating orientation activities during required intersession; policy oversight; effective communication with faculty, learners, and university staff; and internal and external program relations. Supports learners in areas such as curriculum, teaching and learning activities, scheduling, assessment, and evaluations.

Annual salary range: $70,900.00 - $145,200.00. The department’s target salary range is $70,900 - $108,000.


Job Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in related and/or equivalent experience/training

2. 3+ years’ experience coordinating an educational program(s) in an academic medical center

3. Comprehensive understanding of LCME accreditation policy

4. Proficient with or ability to quickly learn Microsoft Office programs, and dean’s office database management programs and web based applications.

5. Presents and expresses ideas and information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience, whether oral or written. Actively listens to what others are saying to achieve understanding. Shares information with others and facilitates the open exchange of ideas and information.

6. Ability to manage confidential information discreetly and responsibly; ability to follow FERPA regulations

7. Open to change and new information; adapts behavior and wok methods in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles. Acclimates quickly to new situations warranting attention and resolution.

8. Demonstrated commitment to knowledge development/professional development

9. High degree of initiative and independent judgement

10. Excellent organizational and analytical skills; strong attention to detail. Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, and to manage short and competing deadlines.

11. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to interact collegially with faculty, staff, learners, and outside contacts at all levels

12. Comprehensive understanding of UCLA policy and procedures
