Job Description

Innovation at the core. Powering a smarter future.

At Vector, we believe innovation is the key to a cleaner, more connected future. By embracing new ideas, forging strong partnerships and pioneering technologies that make energy more resilient and accessible, we’re setting new standards for our customers and our industry.

Vector: Pioneering the future of energy

  • We collaborate globally - bringing cutting-edge technologies home, from AI-driven grid management to advanced renewable integration
  • Our network isn’t just keeping up - it’s evolving through automation, predictive analytics and digital tools that enhance reliability and customer experience
  • We share innovation - helping others embrace smarter, more sustainable energy systems

If you’re passionate about building a cleaner, more connected future, join us. The future isn’t waiting, we’re building it now.

The role

We’re looking for a Principal BA who can operate across both business and technical domains, translating complex regulatory and business requirements into clear, build-ready system outcomes across our enterprise ecosystem.

You’ll step into critical programmes (including Electricity Authority initiatives and distributed generation) where requirements are defined, but now need to be shaped, challenged, and delivered end-to-end.

This role is about truly owning the space, connecting across teams, systems and outcomes. You’ll be the go-to person, driving clarity across systems, integrations, and stakeholders.

What you can expect to do on a daily/weekly basis:

  • Lead end-to-end analysis across large, complex transformation programmes
  • Translate business needs into detailed system requirements (functional, non-functional, integration and field-level rules)
  • Define how systems interact across the enterprise ecosystem, including APIs and integrations
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to ensure requirements are clear, testable and build-ready
  • Lead workshops to shape requirements, inform technical design and drive business process change
  • Challenge thinking and lift capability, moving teams beyond siloed delivery
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, influencing decisions with clear, structured insights
  • Ensure solutions align to customer outcomes, operational performance and regulatory expectations (EA)

Who are we looking for?

You’re a senior, technically strong Business Analyst who’s comfortable operating at both strategic and detailed levels. You'll bring with you:

  • Experience delivering within complex environments (e.g. utilities, energy or similar), ideally across large-scale digital programmes
  • Strong ability to translate business needs into clear, structured requirements, with experience working across systems, integrations and data flows
  • Comfortable working with technical teams, architecture concepts and system interactions to support end-to-end delivery
  • Experience creating functional and non-functional requirements, with an understanding of how systems interact
  • Ability to work effectively across Agile and traditional delivery environments
  • A hands-on and curious approach, with the ability to connect ideas across systems and stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts and build trusted relationships across business and technology teams

Desirable (nice to have):

  • BA certification (CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA)
  • Experience with Design Thinking or Human-Centred Design
  • Familiarity with BPMN or process mapping

We know that some people may hesitate to apply if they don’t meet every requirement. If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply anyway. Your perspective could be exactly what we’re looking for.

Your impact

  • Shape how regulatory and business requirements are translated into real system behaviour
  • Lift the maturity and consistency of Business Analysis across programmes
  • Drive better alignment between business, technology and customer outcomes
  • Play a key role in delivering critical initiatives that impact how energy is priced, managed and experienced
