Principal Associate, Enterprise Learning Risk Management Lead

Capital One’s Enterprise Learning & Development (L&D) team is seeking a Principal Associate, Enterprise Learning Risk Management Lead to drive process optimization, well-managed delivery, and horizontal project management for the risk management function on our team. As a member of Learning Horizontal Operations, you will orchestrate strategic and tactical operations through partnership with HR’s Business Risk Office and L&D team members, and ensure proactive risk mitigation for the L&D organization.

We are looking for someone who can effectively work across multiple partner teams to drive key outcomes (ie. program delivery leads, platform owners, learning leaders). As part of the risk management function, this person will support creation and maintenance of key artifacts including controls, Business Continuity Plans, L2 Memos and process documents. They will serve as the L&D team’s lead point of contact to HR’s Business Risk Office, ensuring close alignment with the broader organization's risk management posture and expectations. They will also serve as a strategic consultant across L&D to assist the team in triaging risk issues and incidents and will lead ongoing socialization and educational efforts for the team.

  • A solutions-oriented problem solver who anticipates emerging needs and operational vulnerabilities, raising issues and proposing solutions proactively, and a proven ability to bring structure to ambiguity..

  • A proactive team player who actively shares best practices, identifies efficiencies, and fully participates in team ceremonies.

What your day to day will look like:

  • Partnering with teams across L&D to ensure accurate and efficient action (i.e. incident management, control execution).

  • Consulting with HR’s Business Risk Office and building out remediation plans and proactive mitigation actions

  • Serve as a peer leader across the L&D team, ensuring that risk management initiatives are delivered on-time and with high quality

  • Building and delivering ongoing socialization plans to increase awareness of L&D’s risk management roadmap including owning socializing awareness of upcoming initiatives with the L&D leadership team

Here is what you need to be successful:

  • Proven ability to navigate across a large organization to drive change and influence on-time deliverables across multiple job families (ie. Learning Consultants, Program Managers, Risk Specialists, and Learning Leaders)

  • An understanding of how risk management principles impact and inform day-to-day operations in a large-scale organization

  • Showcase an openness to diverse viewpoints and perspectives to drive consensus on solutions that align with the organization’s strategic priorities and risk management efforts

  • Ability to work with minimal oversight, delivering high-quality results on-time

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in project, process, or quality management

  • At least 1 year of experience in risk management, audit, compliance or consulting

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of Risk Event management or Issue Management experience

  • 3+ years of experience in management of multiple projects concurrently in an autonomous environment

  • 2+ years of risk methodologies and corporate risk practices experience

  • 3+ years of operations management or risk management experience

  • Lean, Agile, Six Sigma, Business Process Management, or Project Management certification

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Project ManagerRichmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Project Manager

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
