Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Architect, with strong experience in Industrial facilities, particularly in Pharmaceutical Plants (API, Biotech, Life Sciences), Refineries, Chemical / or LNG Projects.
Due to growing demand in the Asian market, Wood's Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) team is expanding to support regional and global projects through a global talent pool.

The Role
The Principal Architect will lead architectural delivery for Wood Singapore, collaborate closely with global offices—particularly India and Thailand—and engage with clients, regulatory authorities, contractors, and project management teams to ensure successful project execution.

- Administration, overall technical direction and coordination of all architectural engineering and design work on assigned projects in accordance with Project Execution Plans, applicable Project Procedures and Standards.
- Overall operation of Architectural Specialists group with high quality and timely completion of their work within the established work hour budgets for the assigned project.
- Coordinate with the Permitting Coordinator and Qualified Persons (QP) for timely delivery of Architectural documents for local authority approval as necessary.
- Ensure high quality and timely completion of the assigned work within the established budgets – Ensure adequate manpower resources and technical competence are available for his assigned area.
- Review and provide input to project schedules.
- Assign and coordinate the activities among the assigned architects and ensure proper flow of information.
- Prepare, review, check, issue and follow up on all Architectural deliverables up to the issue for construction.
- Ensure compliance with Wood's engineering procedures and design safety requirements by promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring that all safety and integrity-critical design aspects are reviewed and approved by appropriate authorized engineers across relevant disciplines.
- Prepare the deliverables list with man-hours for all Architectural activities.
- Review and provide input to project schedules to see that all dates and progress are realistic.
- Attend progress meetings and prepare Architectural Engineering Progress Report.
- Conduct/Assist model review with client & internal inline Wood procedure.
- Assist during Technical audit with required documentation & close all critical observations immediately after technical audit report is distributed.
- Review record and control changes outside the scope of work, submit to the Project Engineering Manager an estimate of man-hours, costs, and any effect on the project schedule.
- Assist in site walk-down survey and site walk-through with other discipline engineers and Client representatives if the situation requires resolving technical issues.
- Prepare Sub-contract requisitions for Architectural work & participate in Technical Bid Evaluation.
- Provide Construction support by visiting Site and be stationed at Site as required
- Assist the Section Head with proposals.
- Participate in Cost estimation and document cost Estimate basis
Degree in Architecture, Registered Professional in any Accredited Professional Entity/Country with 15 to 20 years of relevant experience in Pharmaceutical plants, Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical, LNG and Power Plants.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Familiar with BIM, Architectural 3D Design & 2D Drafting software such as REVIT, AECOsim, 3D max, AutoCAD, E3D, etc.
- Expertise in Local Singapore Permitting Requirements is essential.
- Good knowledge and work experience in preparing design deliverables in compliance with Singapore Building Control Regulation (including Planning and Building Plan Submission), Building Firecode, and BIM Submission requirements.
- Knowledge of Buildability and Green Mark
- Highly motivated, well organized, resourceful and proactive.
- Able to lead, motivate & guide team comprising of Architects & Designers.
- Possess good interpersonal skills with sound written and oral communication skills.
- Flexible approach and able to work under pressure with a can-do attitude and a desire to win.
Personal attributes:
- Able to lead, motivate & guide team comprising Architects & Designer.
- Must have experience in manpower and Architectural design deliverables execution planning and handling.
