You would be part of a team that is in charge of developing the next generation of the Autodesk Construction Cloud mobile application. The Autodesk Construction Cloud platform is a new and exciting project to enable engineers, architects, superintendents and project owners to view, share, collaborate and perform quality checks on their construction projects and designs. Minimizing human errors in the biggest construction projects in the world.
We are seeking a talented Principal Android Engineer to help this effort by providing strong software design and development expertise in the creation of the mobile platform for Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Responsibilities
Thoroughly design and develop Android practices
Constantly research and adopt new technologies and best practices
Collaborate with software engineers, product designers, product managers, testing engineers and others to innovate and implement high-quality products
Take an active role in design and code reviews; write unit and integration tests to ensure high performance and quality application
Cross-team collaboration and coordination
Help build and maintain a diverse, inclusive culture across the development community, growing awareness, inclusivity and balance
Mentor other engineers
Minimum Qualifications
8+ years of experience building high-quality Android apps
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related technical field
3+ years of proven experience with Kotlin
Deep understanding of building and shipping complex product experiences on frequently updated mobile apps
Solid understanding of the full mobile development life cycle
Hands-on experience defining and writing automated testing on Android as well as incorporating them in a continuous integration environment
Proven collaboration with product managers, designers and other developers to help create, refine products and user experiences
Hands-on experience with relational database technologies (e.g. Room, SQLite)
Strong communication skills, enjoy working closely with others while being comfortable independently delivering large business outcomes
Experience with the Android tool ecosystem for development, testing, debugging, and performance benchmarking (Android Studio, Gradle, ADB, Profiler)
Experience working on a large, shared code base, being able to contribute code and improve quality and performance
Proficient with the Android SDK and Jetpack libraries, leveraging them to create scalable, dynamic, extensible and highly performant UI components
Experience with reactive programming (e.g. RxJava 2, Kotlin Coroutines/Flow) and dependency injection (e.g. Dagger/Anvil)
Experience with Jetpack Compose for building modern declarative UIs
High-level understanding of end-to-end systems
Ability to communicate with local as well as remote and international teams
Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
Good project-management and time-management skills -- the ability to transform a feature request into a development plan with effort, integration points and milestones
Hands-on working knowledge of concurrency, threading, client-side persistence and architectural best practices on mobile apps
Hands-on working experience with outside data sources and APIs (e.g. Retrofit, Ok Http)
Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tooling (e.g. Cursor, Copilot, AI code review agents) to accelerate engineering workflows, improve code quality, and enhance productivity
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with MVI architecture patterns (e.g. Mobius)
Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) shared libraries
Hands-on Swift/iOS experience - a plus

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location.
