Our Business
Brisbane City Council is Australia’s largest local government, with more than 9,000 employees, an annual budget of almost $4 billion and assets in excess of $45 billion. As an organisation we are dedicated to ensuring the Brisbane of tomorrow becomes even better than the Brisbane of today. We nurture innovation, value sustainability, and support strong economic growth.
Our Branch
The Business Engagement and Performance Branch is Council’s strategic partner for performance, governance, and organisational improvement, enabling the delivery of community value through strong performance management, strategic alignment, and continuous improvement.
As the organisation transforms how performance is measured and managed, data-driven insights are increasingly shaping decision-making. We are seeking an innovative leader who challenges the status quo, drives new ways of working and improves outcomes for the community.
The Role
As Principal Analyst, you will provide strategic performance analysis, insights, and advice to support the Corporate Services Group in achieving its objectives and delivering effective outcomes. You will deliver meaningful performance reporting and evidence-based recommendations to inform decision-making, strategic planning, and continuous improvement.
Working closely with Group Executive, General Managers, Outcome Managers and other key stakeholders, you will act as a trusted business partner, using data-driven insights to facilitate informed discussions, identify underlying business challenges and uncover opportunities for improvement. The role requires the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, actionable recommendations and compelling business cases that support organisational change and performance outcomes.
Managing a diverse performance and improvement program of work across multiple branches, you will build strong relationships with senior leaders, influence decision-making and drive collaboration to achieve strategic priorities. Brisbane City Council is a multi-award winning accessible and inclusive workplace where our people represent the diverse communities we serve, are supported, and can feel safe. Council has been awarded Employer of the Year at the National Disability Awards and has been recognised multiple times with ‘Gold Employer’ status from the Australian Workplace Equality Index for LGBTI inclusion.
Council and its employees must follow the Public Sector Ethics Act 1994 (Qld) and the Code of Conduct. This means employees are expected to act with honesty, fairness, and always prioritise the public interest over personal or private gain. The Code of Conduct requires employees to openly disclose any other work they do outside of Council — including paid or unpaid employment, operating their own business or volunteering in certain circumstances — and to manage any conflicts of interest or other risks (such as fatigue) in a way that puts the public interest first. Maintaining employment outside Council does not preclude you from being considered for roles within Council.
