We are seeking an experienced Principal Advisor to lead and deliver high‑impact communications and engagement acrosskeyportfolios andprogrammes of work. You will provide strategic advice and hands‑on delivery, supporting business groups,programmesand project teams to achieve successful outcomes.

In this role, you will drive best‑practice internal and external communications, working closely with senior leaders,partnersand stakeholders across the organisation. Your work will help shape understanding, build confidence and support delivery across arange ofpriorities.

As a trusted advisor, you will develop clear, compelling narratives, proactively manage communications risk, and ensure activity is aligned with organisational strategy and wider government priorities.

Our ideal candidate will have some or all the following (butdon’tworry if youdon’ttick every box):

  • Experience leading strategic communications and engagement for programmes or projectswithinalarge, complex organisation
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver integrated communications strategies, managing risk and solving complex issues
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, compelling messages
  • Strong experience across a range of communications disciplines, including internal communications, stakeholder engagement, media, and content development
  • Proven ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with senior leaders, programme owners,and external stakeholders
  • Experienceoperatingin politically and publicly accountable environments
  • Knowledge of, or a willingness to build capability in, Te Ao Māori, tikanga, Te Reo Māori, and TeTiritio Waitangi as it applies in the public sector
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in communications or a related discipline (IAP2 training desirable but not essential)
