About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

We are looking for a Principal Advisor to join the DCE Tech and Data Office. This is a highly influential advisory role where you will provide strategic advice, analysis and support across a complex technology, digital and data portfolio. Working closely with senior leaders, you will help shape strategic direction, align priorities, support organisational performance, and provide insight that enables quality decision-making across the Group

You will operate at the centre of strategic decision-making, providing high-quality advice, briefings and insight that help leaders navigate complexity and deliver results. You will also play a key role in the development and quality assurance of Board and Executive governance submissions, providing trusted advice and insight that supports robust governance, informed decision-making and organisational performance.

While this is not a technical specialist role, you will need sufficient understanding of technology, data and digital environments to engage confidently with complex issues, challenge thinking, and provide credible strategic advice to senior leaders.

The appointing salary for this role is $117,787 - $152,430 based on experience. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme (9% contribution) with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance.

About you | Mōu

You will bring:

• Significant experience in Principal Advisor, Executive Office, Chief of Staff, Strategy, Transformation or other senior advisory roles where you have provided trusted advice to executive leaders on complex organisational issues.
• A proven track record providing strategic advice and influencing decision-making at executive and senior leadership level.
• Strong analytical capability, including the ability to synthesise complex information, identify risks and opportunities, and develop practical recommendations.
• Experience working within technology, digital, data, transformation or other complex organisational environments.
• A sound understanding of technology and data functions, enabling you to advise credibly at a strategic level without needing to be a technical specialist.
• Exceptional written communication skills, including preparing high-quality governance submissions, executive briefings, reports and strategic advice for executive leaders, Boards and governance forums.
• Outstanding stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility and trusted relationships quickly.
• Strong judgement, initiative and the ability to navigate ambiguity and competing priorities.
• A collaborative, curious and outcomes-focused approach.
