As part of the Ministerial Services Group at DIA, VIP Transport provides a safe, secure and confidential chauffeur-driven transport service to a range of persons including Ministers, the Governor-General, members of the Judiciary, and visiting Guests of the New Zealand Government.

Our National Operations team coordinate all ground transport bookings including secure courier service. We work closely with the Visits and Ceremonial Office and the New Zealand Police regarding official visits or significant events. Our VIP Transport chauffeurs have specialist training to ensure the safety and security of our passengers, and are primarily based in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

The role | Te tūnga

The Principal Advisor Crown Fleet and Infrastructure is Wellington based and will provide specialist asset management advice and expertise to ensure the Crown fleet and supporting infrastructure at vehicle depots are responsive and fit-for-purpose. The role will lead and manage projects to identify and implement enhancements or new developments relating to the Crown fleet (including self-drive vehicles) and liaise closely with key internal and external stakeholders including industry and commercial suppliers.

  • Deliver high-quality, strategically aligned specialist asset management advice and expertise which reflects best practice and value for money
  • Manage projects to identify and implement enhancements or new developments for the Crown fleet
  • Liaise with key internal and external stakeholders including industry and commercial suppliers
  • Develop and maintain a Crown fleet strategy ensuring it is responsive to changing needs and overseeing the 10-year fleet replacement schedule.

  • Proven experience delivering high-quality, strategically aligned specialist asset management advice and expertise
  • Experience leading and managing fleet procurement processes in accordance with AoG, agency policy and legislation
  • Proven Project Management skills and experience
  • Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, able to build trusted senior-level relationships
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with proven experience in strategic writing in the formation of briefings, reports, memos
  • Strong negotiation skills with proven success leading commercial contract negotiations.
