About the Role

Rio Tinto Borates is hiring an Asset Management Principal Advisor to support our Boron Operations. These positions report directly to the Refinery Services Manager and serve as category leaders within a defined portfolio.

The Asset Management Principal Advisor role is essential for the effective operation of the Rio Tinto Minerals maintenance and production team. This role has an asset system to enable asset performance. Asset Systems need to be embedded and governed to ensure optimization across the asset management pillars of Risk, Cost and Performance.

Primary Purpose

To provide Asset Management support to the Refinery Services group.

Lead defined asset management improvement projects, in line with Rio Tinto Asset Management Standards. Projects to be embedded through the use of clear project definition and deliverables including coaching and support to asset maintenance leaders and Practitioners across RTM- Boron to ensure improvement sustainability.

Reporting to the Refinery Services Manager you will:

  • Always consider the safety of people within the team as they work.
  • Comply with Rio Tinto and Statutory Safety requirements.
  • Comply with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements as detailed below.
  • Your leadership activities will include:
  • Explain the context and purpose for each assignment.
  • Identify critical issues and problems within common and specific tasks.
  • Consult within the team and seek contributions from the team.
  • Make sound decisions within your discretion.
  • Provide technical assistance within the team.
  • Actively improve processes and activities, with a focus on balancing cost risk and performance.
  • Understand context of role within site, accept decisions and provide support.
  • Deep Dive Asset Management processes, as required, understand Gap, implement solutions and develop sustainable processes moving forward (For example AIA, Maintenance Budgeting). Use a range of diagnostic tools, interpret site metrics and seek feedback from site personnel. Use current state assessments (CSAs) to support development and implementation of a site improvement plan to address key gaps in quality of site AM processes
  • Actively pursue, and act as a point of liaison, to improve quality of the site’s master data (BOM, FLOC, task lists and so on), and quality and productivity of the site’s AM system use per list of AM process elements
  • Comply with AM Process for Risk and Assurance ensuring compliance at a site level.
  • Engage with AM process and systems leads to provide AM governance at site level.

Core Responsibilities

About You

  • Exceptional ability to work with people to identify and eliminate failure causes.
  • Engineering degree or significant technical experience.
  • Experience in the maintenance of mining equipment.
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in the use of computers, Word, Excel, Access, maintenance management system (i.e., SAP
  • Detailed knowledge of RTIO AM systems 
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance principles and tools.
