Job Description

QIC’s Infrastructure team is seeking an experienced Principal to join the Energy & Utilities team. As one of the world's leading infrastructure investors, QIC Infrastructure manages unlisted infrastructure investments globally across transport, energy & utilities, and social infrastructure sectors.

This is a senior investment leadership role responsible for originating, executing and managing infrastructure investments across the energy sector, while providing strategic oversight of portfolio assets and contributing to the ongoing growth of QIC’s Infrastructure's global platform. Working closely with clients, portfolio company management teams and industry stakeholders, you will play a key role in identifying opportunities, driving value creation and supporting long-term investment performance.

This opportunity can be based in either our Brisbane or Sydney office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the identification, assessment and origination of infrastructure investment opportunities across the energy and utilities sector.
  • Build and maintain relationships with strategic sponsors, advisors, industry participants, clients and co-investors.
  • Lead transaction execution, due diligence, valuation, negotiation and investment approval processes.
  • Present investment opportunities and recommendations to internal investment committees and external clients.
  • Actively manage portfolio investments, including commercial, regulatory and governance matters.
  • Represent QIC on portfolio company boards and contribute to strategic decision-making and value creation initiatives.
  • Monitor market, sector and economic trends and assess their impact on investment opportunities and portfolio performance.
  • Support fundraising, client engagement and product development initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop investment professionals across the team, contributing to a high-performance and collaborative culture.
  • Work closely with clients, advisors and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional investment and client outcomes.

About You

  • Significant (10+ years) experience within infrastructure investing, investment banking, advisory or a related environment, with direct infrastructure investment experience.
  • Deep expertise across the energy sector, particularly within the electricity value chain, including generation and/or transmission and distribution assets.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading complex investment transactions from origination through execution and asset management.
  • Strong board, governance and stakeholder management experience, ideally within an institutional investment environment.
  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Economics, Business, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Exceptional commercial acumen, analytical capability and investment judgement.
  • Strong relationship management, negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior executives, clients and industry partners.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop team members while delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience preparing investment committee papers, undertaking due diligence and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • An MBA, CFA or other postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.
