  • Strong problem solving skills a must; must be able to develop solutions to existing and new issues based upon a strong background in both contracts administration and the products/pharma businesses.
  • Strong leadership skills, must have the ability to lead teams in an appropriate and professional manner.

Negotiates contract terms and conditions with the organization's customers. Communicates contract terms to internal stakeholders. Oversees the development of bid proposals. Monitors performance under the contract terms to determine if an amendment or termination of the contract needs to occur.

Goal of function:

A Principal Contract Management Specialist plays an integral role in the Contracts Department. Responsible for making timely decisions

based on evidence. Takes responsibility for results. Gathers all relevant information, utilizing an analytical and logical approach to problem solving, and accurately assessing impact of decisions on business area and overall. Responsible for identifying solutions to business or operational related issues dealing with existing and new contracts and contract documents. This position must have a strong understanding of the inner workings of the segments of the business that they support. The Principal Contract Management Specialist will assist in developing and managing compliant systems, procedures, and standards to support the company’s Contract strategy and initiatives. Responsible for direction and work oversight of daily operations, identifying practical and tactical solutions to business or operational issues.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for independently drafting language in contract documents and providing assistance to other staff with contract documents or other complex tasks that require considerable judgment and initiative.
  • Maintains a fallback clause library and recommends alternatives to contract language when needed
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the contract documents. Prepares supporting analysis, such as Gross Margin Analysis reports.
  • Acts as the first point of contact for other team members and is the lead negotiator with external and internal customers.
  • Ensures that contract documents flow through the defined contracts management process in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Develops relationships and communication with internal contacts, including, but not limited to: Sales, Marketing, Reimbursement, Accounts Receivable, Customer Service, Legal, Data Administration, Credit and other appropriate departments to ensure that contracts are appropriately developed and/or updated. At this level, this position will interact with Sr. level executives within these departments.
  • Responsible for assisting with other duties and programs such as government bids, distributor relationships, regional and
  • national accounts, and large joint ventures.
  • Maintains accurate contract logs and reports, including Contract Status and Expired Contracts.
  • Leads specific team projects, as directed. Provides guidance and advice to other employees within the department. Maintains complete, accurate and up-to-date contract records.
  • Develops and masters familiarity with the information systems utilized within the department (Unity, Contract Management System, etc.)
  • Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Assists with various projects as assigned by a direct supervisor.
  • Mentors other staff as applicable.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Has wide-ranging experience and uses professional concepts in developing resolution to critical issues and broad design matters.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel.
  • Works with sub-department heads to develop and implement performance metrices for core work processes and defines continuous improvement performance targets.
  • Tracks and validates all improvements and dollar savings.
  • Fosters a sense of urgency and champions radical change that pushes for continuous improvement with a focus on improving efficiency, quality and driving down costs.
  • Ensures processes and associated SLA’s are adhered to and engages in root cause analysis of performance issues when they arise. Continually revisits SLAs to ensure proper components are being measured.
