As a Junior Trader on our Stock Borrow Loan desk, you’ll help power short sale approvals, pricing, and settlements across US and international securities while growing your career on a fast‑paced trading floor.

As an analyst in the Prime Finance Group, you will sit within the Equities Division, providing integrated sales, execution, clearing, and financing solutions for clients. The Stock Borrow Loan desk manages client short sale approvals, pricing, and settlements for US and international stocks and bonds. In this role, you will support domestic SBL trading activity, cultivate hard‑to‑borrow flow, and partner closely with product and internal stakeholders to enhance trading and reporting capabilities—all while maintaining rigorous compliance and risk standards.

Job responsibilities

  • Support and cultivate US hard‑to‑borrow equities trading flow, contributing to efficient price discovery and client execution.
  • Source new hard‑to‑borrow supply and build relationships with institutional lenders to expand inventory access.
  • Assist in maximizing returns on the firm’s long inventory through effective securities lending strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Product Development team to enhance trading and reporting functionality supporting the SBL workflow.
  • Maintain high standards of compliance and risk management in all trading activities, aligning with firm policies and controls.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders to drive timely resolutions and deliver best‑in‑class service.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Minimum two years of markets experience, preferably within securities lending or equities trading.
  • Proficiency with trading platforms and market data tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Excel) to analyze and execute effectively.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment with strong attention to detail and prioritization.
  • Self‑starter with a strong interest in financial markets and continuous learning mindset.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and stakeholder communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Commitment to upholding regulatory and risk management standards in all activities.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience cultivating relationships with institutional lenders and counterparties to broaden supply channels.
  • Familiarity with workflow tooling and reporting enhancements supporting trading desks; comfort partnering with product/tech.
  • Demonstrated track record of disciplined risk management and adherence to controls in a trading environment.
