A Primary Teacher at ACG Parnell plays a vital role in fostering the intellectual, social, physical, and emotional development of young learners. This position is responsible for delivering a well-rounded education that meets curriculum guidelines while nurturing a positive learning environment. The teacher will engage students in a variety of subject areas, utilising creative and effective teaching methods that cater to diverse learning needs.

The role contributes significantly to the school’s mission of providing an innovative, holistic, and student-centred education, ensuring that each child reaches their full potential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences for primary students.
  • Support children's successful transition into school through nurturing and responsive teaching practices.
  • Develop strong foundations in early literacy, numeracy, and inquiry-based learning.
  • Differentiate learning programmes to meet individual student needs, strengths, and interests.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress to inform next steps in learning.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that promotes wellbeing and belonging.
  • Foster confidence, independence, positive behaviour, and social development in young learners.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents and caregivers to support student learning and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to Junior School initiatives and professional learning.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A recognised teaching qualification, such as a Bachelor of Education or equivalent.
  • Accreditation with New Zealand Education Council.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prepared to undertake a New Zealand police check prior to commencing the position
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining New Zealand teaching accreditation.
  • Provide lunch & playground cover
  • A willingness to attend school events outside regular hours as required (e.g., performances, parent-teacher interviews, etc.).
