Primary Care Physician with a Focus in Women’s Health
High Lakes Health Care | Bend, Oregon
High Lakes Health Care, part of Praxis Health, is seeking a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician (MD/DO) who wants to build a full-spectrum primary care practice while bringing additional experience, knowledge, and interest in women’s health.
This is a primary care position—not a gynecology position.
The physician joining our team will serve as a primary care provider first, developing and managing a traditional primary care panel and caring for the broad range of health needs that come through a primary care practice. Depending on specialty training, that may include children and adolescents, adult men and women, older adults, preventive care, acute concerns, chronic disease management, behavioral health, and coordination of specialty care.
At the same time, we know there is significant demand among women in Central Oregon for a primary care physician who understands the health issues that affect them throughout different stages of life. In particular, many women are looking to their PCP for knowledgeable, evidence-based care during perimenopause and menopause and want a physician who is comfortable discussing these issues as part of their overall health—not separately from it.
We are looking for a physician who shares that interest and sees women’s health as an important part of excellent primary care.
The Practice
This physician will build and manage a full-spectrum primary care panel, with the opportunity to develop a particular area of clinical focus in women’s health.
Primary care responsibilities include:
Within that broader primary care practice, the physician will also have the opportunity to provide additional depth in areas of women’s health such as:
The exact scope can be shaped around the physician's training and clinical interests. We are not recruiting someone to provide specialty gynecologic care, perform gynecologic surgery, or function as a gynecologist.
A Strong Partnership with High Lakes Gynecology
One of the advantages of this position is the ability to provide an expanded scope of women's health within primary care while practicing alongside an established High Lakes Gynecology team.
Our gynecologists are available for consultation and specialty referral when a patient's needs extend beyond the scope of primary care. This allows the primary care physician to maintain continuity for the health concerns appropriately managed in their practice while giving patients a clear pathway to specialty gynecologic or surgical care when needed.
The goal is not to duplicate gynecology. It is to provide women with a PCP who is particularly knowledgeable and comfortable caring for the health issues that often arise throughout adulthood while still managing the whole patient.
The Physician We Hope to Meet
We are interested in physicians who are passionate about primary care and who have developed—or want to further develop—an area of expertise in women's health.
Qualifications include:
Additional training or focused clinical experience in women's health, menopause medicine, or a women's health-focused primary care program is welcomed but not required.
Why High Lakes Health Care?
High Lakes Health Care is an independent medical group serving Central Oregon, with primary care and specialty practices throughout Bend, Redmond, and Sisters.
Our physicians have the opportunity to develop long-term patient relationships while practicing with a high degree of clinical autonomy and the support of an established regional medical group.
As part of Praxis Health, High Lakes combines the resources and stability of the Pacific Northwest's largest independent healthcare network with the local relationships and decision-making of a community-based practice.
For the right physician, this is an opportunity to build a true primary care practice while developing a clinical niche that is increasingly important to our community: providing women with a PCP who understands both their overall health and the health concerns unique to different stages of their lives.
Life in Bend
Bend offers a combination that is increasingly difficult to find: a strong and growing community, access to excellent medical resources, and year-round outdoor recreation immediately outside your door.
Central Oregon offers skiing and snowshoeing at Mt. Bachelor, hiking and mountain biking throughout the Cascades and high desert, paddleboarding and kayaking, climbing, fishing, and access to the Cascade Lakes.
For a physician who wants to build lasting relationships with patients, develop a practice around their clinical interests, and live in one of the Pacific Northwest's most desirable communities, High Lakes offers an exceptional opportunity.
