Summary

Team Manager, Pricing Team is responsible for leading the development and execution of pricing, tender management, and carrier engagement activities that support the company's freight forwarding and logistics business growth. This role serves as the primary liaison between Sales, Procurement, Operations, and logistics service providers to develop competitive and commercially viable solutions across ocean, air, and LCL services. The Team Manager will oversee carrier and supplier relationships, manage customer RFQs and tenders, provide market intelligence and pricing guidance, and ensure timely and effective support for business development initiatives. The position is expected to establish and maintain a structured pricing and tender management process while driving collaboration across functions to improve responsiveness, competitiveness, and overall business performance

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Pricing Team, providing direction, guidance, and performance oversight to ensure effective support of commercial objectives and customer requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with ocean carriers, airlines, NVOCCs, consolidators, trucking providers, and other logistics service providers to secure competitive pricing, capacity, and service solutions.
  • Lead pricing strategy development and commercial analysis for freight forwarding services, including Full Container Load (FCL), Less-than-Container Load (LCL), airfreight, and related logistics offerings.
  • Manage and coordinate customer RFQs, RFPs, and tender opportunities from initial review through final submission, ensuring timely, accurate, and competitive proposals.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Sales, Procurement, and Operations to develop integrated logistics solutions that align customer requirements with operational capabilities and procurement strategies.
  • Evaluate market conditions, carrier pricing trends, capacity developments, and industry changes to provide pricing recommendations and commercial insights to management and sales teams.
  • Support business development initiatives by developing competitive pricing models, solution designs, and bid strategies for strategic and non-affiliate customers.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain pricing, tender management, and carrier engagement processes to improve consistency, efficiency, and responsiveness across the organization.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Operations teams to ensure pricing assumptions, service commitments, and commercial proposals accurately reflect current market conditions and operational capabilities.
  • Review pricing proposals and tender submissions to ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, profitability objectives, and customer expectations.
  • Monitor pricing performance, RFQ success rates, market competitiveness, and supplier performance, and recommend improvement initiatives to enhance business results.
  • Prepare and present pricing analyses, market intelligence reports, carrier updates, and commercial recommendations to management and key stakeholders.
  • Support organizational growth by developing scalable pricing and tender management practices and mentoring team members to enhance overall commercial capabilities.
  • Supervise and develop Pricing Team personnel by setting performance expectations, providing coaching and guidance, conducting performance evaluations, and supporting employee development and training initiatives.
  • Support organizational planning and process improvement efforts, including development of pricing tools, reporting capabilities, standard operating procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, Finance, Operations, Sales, Procurement, and HQ stakeholders to support system enhancements, process standardization, and strategic business initiatives.
  • Prepare and analyze management reports, market intelligence, and business performance metrics to support decision-making, forecasting, budgeting, and commercial strategy development.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines, while supporting special projects and other business initiatives as assigned by management.

Compensation Range

$118,000 - $134,000 Per Year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of international freight forwarding and logistics services, including Ocean (FCL/LCL), Air Freight, and related transportation solutions.
  • Experience in pricing, procurement, carrier management, and tender/RFQ processes within the transportation, freight forwarding, or logistics industry.
  • Strong commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills with the ability to develop competitive pricing strategies and evaluate business opportunities.
  • Leadership and project management skills with the ability to supervise staff, manage multiple priorities, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work effectively with Sales, Procurement, Operations, customers, and management.
  • Experience leading a Pricing, Procurement, Tender Management, or Commercial Support team within a freight forwarding, NVOCC, 3PL, or logistics organization.
  • Knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS), freight forwarding operating systems, CRM platforms, and data analysis/reporting tools.
  • Experience working in a global organization and the ability to communicate effectively in multi-cultural/national environment.

Education & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7-10 years of International freight forwarding and logistics services, including Ocean (FCL/LCL), Air Freight, and related transportation solutions experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • 10-15 years of International freight forwarding and logistics services, including Ocean (FCL/LCL), Air Freight, and related transportation solutions experience
