Job Description

StarTech.com is seeking a commercially driven Pricing Manager – Market Strategy & Margin Optimization to build and lead our pricing strategy, helping us maximize profitability while strengthening our position as the trusted choice for IT professionals worldwide.

This is a highly visible role where you'll influence how our products are positioned across distribution, reseller, Amazon, and direct channels. You'll work at the intersection of Product, Marketing, Finance, Analytics, and Channel teams to transform market insights into pricing strategies that drive sustainable margin growth.

If you're energized by solving complex commercial challenges, influencing executive decisions with data, and building pricing strategies—not just maintaining them—this could be the opportunity you've been looking for.

This is an existing opportunity

What This Role Is:

You'll become StarTech.com's pricing expert, helping shape how we compete in the market and how we translate product differentiation into profitable growth.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Build and evolve pricing frameworks that maximize long-term profitability.
  • Own pricing strategy across a broad portfolio of technology products and global sales channels.
  • Influence executive decisions through market intelligence, commercial insight, and data-driven recommendations.
  • Partner with Product, Marketing, Finance, Amazon, Analytics, and Channel teams to solve complex business challenges.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins while maintaining a compelling value proposition for customers.
  • Develop pricing governance, tools, and processes that will continue to scale with the business.
  • Help shape one of the company's most important commercial capabilities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting customer value, competitive positioning, and commercial strategy to drive measurable business results.

What This Role Isn't:

We believe transparency helps candidates determine whether they're applying for the right opportunity.

This role is not focused primarily on:

  • Maintaining price lists or processing pricing requests.
  • Deal desk, quote support, or bid pricing for individual customer opportunities.
  • Contract administration, rebates, incentives, or pricing operations.
  • Producing reports without influencing commercial decisions.
  • Executing pricing strategies developed by someone else.

Instead, we're looking for someone who enjoys asking "Why?", developing new approaches, challenging assumptions, and confidently recommending pricing strategies that improve business performance.

The strongest candidates will have experience owning pricing decisions across a portfolio of products and balancing customer value, competitive positioning, and profitability.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Margin Growth & Value-Based Pricing: Develop and execute pricing strategies that maximize profitability by aligning prices with customer-perceived value, identifying margin expansion opportunities, and supporting broader business objectives across the product lifecycle.
  • Competitive Intelligence & Market-Based Positioning: Lead competitive pricing analysis and market intelligence efforts to strengthen StarTech.com's market position, inform pricing decisions, and support premium pricing where product differentiation creates customer value.
  • IT Buyer Value Alignment & Differentiation Pricing: Develop a deep understanding of IT buyer behavior and partner with Product and Marketing teams to create pricing structures that reflect customer needs, purchasing drivers, and StarTech.com's differentiated value proposition.
  • Channel & Amazon Pricing Governance: Own omni-channel pricing strategy and governance across distribution, reseller, Amazon, and direct channels to ensure pricing consistency, margin protection, and compliance with pricing policies.
  • Pricing Analytics, Tools & Process: Establish pricing performance metrics, leverage pricing tools and technologies, and implement governance frameworks that enable data-driven decision-making and consistent pricing execution across the organization.

Must-Have Qualifications & Experience:

We're looking for someone who brings a combination of pricing expertise, commercial acumen, and analytical problem-solving.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in pricing strategy, commercial strategy, category management, product management, or portfolio management within a B2B environment.
  • Demonstrated success developing pricing strategies that improved profitability, margin dollars, or commercial performance.
  • Experience making pricing decisions across multiple products, channels, customer segments, or regions.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and confidence working with large datasets to uncover commercial opportunities.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams including Product, Marketing, Finance, Sales, or Channel Management.
  • The ability to clearly communicate commercial recommendations and influence stakeholders at multiple levels.

What Will Help You Succeed:

While not every candidate will have all of these experiences, many successful applicants will have worked in areas such as:

  • Value-based, market-based, or strategic pricing methodologies.
  • Competitive intelligence, market analysis, or commercial strategy.
  • B2B technology, hardware, distribution, manufacturing, or e-commerce industries.
  • Amazon Vendor Central and/or Seller Central pricing environments.
  • Working with channel partners, distributors, resellers, or marketplace businesses.
  • Pricing governance, pricing operations, or margin management.
  • Managing large product portfolios, SKU catalogs, or pricing matrices.
  • Business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • ERP, pricing, or revenue management systems such as SAP, Oracle, Pricefx, Vendavo, or similar platforms.

Skills & Capabilities:

Success in this role requires someone who is equally comfortable working with data, influencing stakeholders, and making strategic commercial recommendations.

You'll thrive if you:

  • Think commercially and naturally balance growth with profitability.
  • Enjoy solving business problems using data and market insights.
  • Can confidently present recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  • Are curious, proactive, and willing to challenge conventional thinking.
  • Enjoy working independently while collaborating across multiple business functions.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

The following would be considered strong assets:

  • MBA or advanced degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related discipline.
  • Experience leading pricing transformation initiatives.
  • Experience implementing pricing technologies or pricing automation.
  • Familiarity with IT hardware, connectivity, networking, or related technology products.
  • Experience supporting global pricing strategies across multiple currencies and markets.
  • Understanding of how IT professionals, procurement teams, distributors, and value-added resellers evaluate technology purchases.

What to expect from the Hiring Process:

We respect your time and value transparency. Here’s a general idea of what to expect:

  • Intro call with our Talent Acquisition Team (30-45 minutes)
  • Interview with the Hiring Manager (45-60 minutes)
  • Two additional interviews with cross-functional leaders (~60 minutes each)
