Job Description

The Pricing Analyst is responsible for analyzing market trends, competitor pricing, and internal data to develop and implement effective pricing strategies that support the organization’s financial goals and competitive position. This role partners with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Customer Service and Product teams to ensure data-driven pricing decisions that maximize profitability while balancing sales goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze pricing requests and offer pricing based upon knowledge of costs, availability, competitor pricing, market trends and overall targeted company margin thresholds and sales targets.
  • Calculate margin impact of price deviations to support decisions/recommendations based on all applicable variables including but not limited to material cost, freight, customer rebates and commissions.
  • Own the SAP quoting process for assigned territory, including approval of price deviations within delegation of authority or escalating recommendations to leadership with sound justification
  • Exercise good judgement and decision-making that balances the needs of the customer and the business.
  • Load/maintain pricing and pricing discounts in SAP.
  • Negotiate with 3rd party suppliers to procure competitive costs, availability and quality of relevant sourced products.
  • Enter credits to resolve invoice pricing issues and project rebates.
  • Support new product pricing, promotional pricing, and pricing changes
  • Understand and address issues raised by customer service on price discrepancies in SAP.
  • Assist customer service with product or system questions.
  • Monitors competitor pricing and industry trends to drive informed pricing decisions/execution.
  • Maintains spreadsheets/competitor database to effectively track/monitor competitive pricing structures.
  • Partner with Sales managers to share and obtain regional feedback on competitive situations or general market information to align market pricing strategies with business objectives.
  • Maintains and enhances pricing tools, systems, and processes to drive incremental improvement in transparency, efficiency and decision making.
  • Ensures pricing practices comply with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in and support company COS initiatives, with focus on developing a lean mindset.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to negotiate and challenge unsubstantiated requests while seeking win/win outcomes
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines in fast paced environment
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel and analytics platforms (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)

Education and Experience:

  • Required:
    • Bachelor's degree OR five years of related professional work experience (sales / technical field experience, analytics or other customer facing role)
    • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, retail, or B2B environment
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with ERP systems and or pricing software/analytics
