Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Prevention Worker, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £16.12 - £21.10 per hour

The Prevention Worker will support children and young people aged 10–17 who are at risk of offending or involved in anti-social behaviour. The role involves undertaking assessments, developing targeted intervention plans, providing mentoring and support to young people and their families, and working closely with partner agencies to reduce offending and promote positive outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments of young people referred to the Youth Justice Service Prevention Team.
  • Develop and deliver intervention programmes aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour and offending.
  • Manage a caseload of young people, ensuring effective support and engagement.
  • Build positive relationships with young people and families through mentoring, advice, and guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, social services, police, and other partner agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Understanding of the criminal justice system and its impact on children and young people.
  • Knowledge of restorative justice and restorative approaches.

Essentials:

  • Experience working with children and young people.
  • Ability to assess needs and develop intervention plans.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and relationship-building skills.
  • Good IT and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to an insured vehicle.
  • Willingness to undertake evening and weekend work.

  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
