Our vision is ‘Making the West Midlands safer, stronger and healthier’.

This vision and the strategic goals outlined in ‘Our Strategy’ are what drives the people, professionalism and pride with which we serve our communities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Prevention Team as Education Support Officer.

Working directly to the Education Officer, the successful candidate will be working across our service area, providing advice, guidance support and training for those who deliver our education programmes to children and young people.

The postholder will play an integral role in supporting the development and improvement of the content and resources for delivery of the programmes, to ensure they align to emerging risks, are inclusive and accessible, and meet the needs of those who deliver and receive the educational input.

Key to your success will be your highly developed interpersonal skills, your ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, and in building and maintaining professional working relationships with the wider Prevention Team, Operations and internal and external stakeholders.

Experience and skills

Essential

  • a broad knowledge and understanding of all areas of Prevention
  • deliver training to a range of audiences
  • planning, monitoring and evaluation processes, collating and assessing customer feedback and outcomes
  • partnership working
  • able to work on own initiative and in an autonomous environment, but adapt to team working when required
  • use of technology including MS O365
  • trusted and able to deal with confidential issues
  • good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
  • able to build and maintain working relationships with various stakeholders.

  • wellbeing programmes

  • ‘blue light’ discounts across many retailers through partner schemes

  • Sports and Welfare scheme (for a small fee) – with access to discounted products and services.

Diversity

We welcome applications from all eligible candidates. However, as women and Black and minority ethnic employees are currently under-represented in our service, we particularly encourage applications from these groups.

WMFS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. We expect the same of every staff member.

Successful candidates will be subject to necessary pre-employment checks, including - where applicable - relevant level Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, qualifications, medical clearance, identity and right to work. All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references.
