Stretching from the dynamic neighbourhood of Streatham in the South to the iconic landmarks of Waterloo in the North, we are proud to be the 9th largest borough in London. Our diversity is our strength, with more than 130 languages spoken, making Lambeth the home of the Windrush generation, London's largest LGBTQ+ community, and a thriving Portuguese-speaking community. With exceptional schools, lush green spaces including Brockwell Park, cultural gems like the Black Cultural Archives, and world-renowned institutions such as St Thomas's Hospital, Lambeth offers an enriching and dynamic environment.
The LB Lambeth Prevent team works to ensure LB Lambeth delivers its statutory Prevent Duty in line with Section 26 of the Counter Terrorism and Security Act 2015 (CTSA) and associated statutory guidance. This places a duty (often known as the ‘Prevent Duty’) on London borough councils, to have “due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism”.
This fixed term contract role in place until 31 March 2027 positions LB Lambeth as a Prevent ‘hub’ borough, and will support local authorities in the South London region (LBs Southwark, Croydon, Sutton, Bromley, Bexley, Lewisham, and Greenwich) to deliver their statutory Prevent Duty. The postholder will be responsible for building relationships with local authority Prevent leads in the non-funded areas, and working with these leads to identify gaps in delivery. It will support these areas to build a regional risk picture, and support the development and delivery of their action plans. It will also work with these areas to develop regional project bids, and coordinate the delivery of funded projects. In addition, the post will develop Prevent training for these areas, and engage with local communities across the cluster to support engagement with Prevent.
