Job Description

PRD Engineer is responsible for analyzing overpressure scenarios, performing relief calculations, and developing pressure relief device designs to protect process systems and equipment. The role includes sizing and specifying relief valves and rupture discs, verifying compliance with applicable codes and standards, preparing technical documentation, and supporting process safety and design review activities.

What You Will Do:

  • Performs engineering review and analysis assignments under minimal supervision of an experienced engineer or engineering manager
    • Applies conventional knowledge in a particular field of engineering.
    • Review project plans to understand the scope, schedule and assigned work.
    • Identifying and quantifying overpressure scenario relief rate requirements and evaluating relief systems capacities.
    • Verifying the adequacy of relief/flare system design and installation.
    • Prepare written documents, reports and presentations for review by an experienced engineer or engineering manager.
    • Develop understanding of the technical requirements and challenges and provide suggested opportunities of the business to formulate opportunities to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in day-to-day job tasks.
    • Participate in client and team meetings.
    • Track and accurately report hours spent on projects
    • Work with individuals at all levels, provide input to reports and other deliverables, execute multiple assignments, meet agreed deadlines, and adjust to changing client demands.
    • Perform quality assurance on project deliverables.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics or a related engineering/scientific discipline
  • 2-4 years of relevant professional experience working with pressure relief devices, pressure vessels, and process safety systems. This position requires a strong understanding of pressure relief calculations, relief valve sizing, overpressure scenarios, fluid dynamics, and applicable industry codes and standards.

  • Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management Systems.
  • US Citizenship required for roles supporting government contracts

Professional or chartered engineer license.
