Essential Functions:
Howmet – Houston Extrusions (77061) is seeking a skilled, detailed oriented, and safety-driven machine operator to operate a 5K Extrusion Press by loading billets onto the feed conveyors, heating the billets in an induction system, and then extruding that billet thru a predetermined tooling stack. Once extruded, parts shall be inspected for conformity, split (as needed), then stamped with the corresponding production order and extrusion number.
Role and Responsibilities:
Load billets to the extrusion press
Assemble tooling stacks/dies for as assigned for each production order material master and install onto die slide of extrusion press
Heat billets in induction system
Extrude billets thru extrusion press, cut back end off and reclaim die
Inspect extrusion for conformity
Split extrusion (as needed)
Stamp production order and extrusion number onto the extrusion
Operate overhead bridge cranes and jib cranes
Operator forklift and side loader.
Ability to work with external and internal customers.
Ability to read and react to verbal and non-verbal communication while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Complies with all EHS rules required for the work environment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED
Minimum 2-5 years quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
4 or more years’ Experience in metals manufacturing
Excellent Communication and Presentation skills (written, verbal and non- verbal), ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
Must work well in a team environment and commit to continuous improvement.
Must be able to obtain an in-house mobile equipment certification, including use of forklift and boom lift
Basic metal fabrication skills; use of power tools, cutting torch, stick welder, saws, and knee mill.
