Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate CNC Press Brake under minimal supervision. May operate manual press brake on occasion.
  • Run bend and forming operations using standard and custom dies or punches if needed.
  • Check heights, depth and thickness using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, gauges, or other precision-measuring instruments.
  • Work within tight tolerances.
  • Review work with Lead to ensure job is performed correctly and meets requirements.
  • Perform spot inspections of parts to ensure they are within tolerance.
  • Configure bend allowances for metal (stainless, aluminum, and regular steel).
  • Become familiar with blueprints and parts-layouts (“stretch-outs”) and refer to project lead to ensure accuracy of part dimensions and requirements.
  • Check machine for defects and inform supervisor as necessary.
  • Ensure machine is calibrated and cleaned.
  • Read drawings and blueprints.
  • Keep set-up time to a minimum within confines of given press brake.
  • Calculate the tonnage required to form a part before making the first bend when bottom-bending or coining.
  • Maintain clean and safe working area.
  • Follow safety rules and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Obtain correct consumables and tools when needed and maintain all tools and consumables to extend working life.
  • Communicate appropriately issues or conditions that may impact the job at hand.
  • Become familiar with fabrication processes, metal alloys and properties, and relate knowledge to assigned jobs.
  • Identify ways to increase efficiency and quality while following correct procedures as required.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 to 3 years previous CNC equipment operation
  • Familiarity with metals as well as measuring equipment and techniques
  • Understand CAD/CAM technology
  • Understand when to apply air bending, bottom bending, or coining
  • Familiarity with tooling, tooling tolerances and manufacture specifications for tooling
  • Able to use relevant precision measuring instruments proficiently
  • Math skills, able to read blueprints, good problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Knowledge and ability to operate manual press brake

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Manufacturing environment: May be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Sitting, standing, kneeling, laying, stooping, crawling, reaching, pulling
  • Lifting to 50lbs regularly
  • Handling and moving objects- Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials
  • Must be able to climb ladders or make use of a lift
