Job Description

A family office is building an environmental services platform around two profitable Florida operating companies that provide commercial radon mitigation and indoor air quality (IAQ) services, together generating roughly $6M in revenue and $2M in EBITDA. The mandate over the next four to seven years is to grow the platform to $25M+ in revenue through aggressive organic growth and continued acquisitions. You'd be the President running the platform: full P&L, commercial execution, operations, and the leadership team you build.

About the Companies
Both operating companies have 30-year operating histories with deep customer relationships across property managers, owners, developers, GCs, and environmental services firms throughout the Southeast. The mission is to scale the platform through aggressive organic and inorganic growth strategies and investments in people and process.

About the Role
You report to the family office's lead Principal, with active engagement from the broader investment team and advisory board. The board owns strategy and M&A, and you run the operating business.Every week you're in the field with asset managers, GCs, distributors, and customers, and what you bring back from those conversations shapes where the platform expands next. Expect heavy travel in the first 6–12 months as you build relationships across the region, develop the commercial motion across the Southeast, increase connectivity throughout the industry, and visit the family office's home market for meetings.

The Goal
Within a year, you've built a documented, durable commercial pipeline that delivers organic growth across the combined platform, with the ambition to outperform the slated benchmarks. Over the longer arc, you're the operating backbone of a platform that grows from $6M to $25M+ in revenue over four to seven years. Your equity rides with that growth.

What You'll Own

  • Build the commercial engine: You architect the GTM strategy across the platform. You deepen existing customer relationships, pursue high-value accounts, and develop net-new business across the Southeast (Florida, Georgia, Alabama, the Carolinas, and Tennessee) and potentially beyond.
  • Help shape the platform thesis: You synthesize field intelligence into a clear point of view on which growth levers (geographic expansion, customer concentration, pricing, residential radon, adjacent IAQ services, such as vapor intrusion mitigation, channel partnerships, etc.) yield the most value. Acquisition candidates often surface naturally from that work.
  • Scale operations: You decide how labor, processes/technology, and leadership capacity grow with demand while addressing bottlenecks. The expectation is evolution: preserve what works, clear what doesn't.
  • Build the leadership team: With site-leader transitions on a two-year horizon, you develop or recruit successors and earn the founders' trust early so handoffs happen with their support.
  • Own the P&L: Pricing architecture, labor utilization, and margin discipline are yours to design. You track competitor pricing, read cost-input pressure into pricing decisions, and have the latitude to push rate increases internally.

Skills Needed to Apply

Qualifications

  • Personally led commercial growth at a $5–15M services or contracting business and scaled it to $25M, $50M, or more.
  • Built or led the relationship-building function across multiple decision-maker types (owners, GCs, asset managers, environmental services firms). Can articulate how you generated and converted the pipeline.
  • Full P&L ownership of a $5–15M services or contracting business that you grew to $25M+. Fluent in gross margin, labor utilization, pricing, EBITDA cash conversion, and estimating.
  • Led a small business, writing proposals, meeting customers, and rolling up your sleeves day-to-day. Comfort with ambiguity and getting your hands dirty.
  • Personally hired and developed the next layer of leadership beneath you. Comfortable identifying high-potential operators in field-heavy businesses, including making hard talent calls when needed.

Nice to have

  • Experience reporting to a PE firm or family office as a President, CEO, or GM. You know how to manage up to active investors who get into operating details.
  • 10+ years in field services, specialty trades, environmental services, or commercial construction. You can walk a job site and have a credible conversation with a technician.
  • Multi-site operations experience (3+ locations), with each unit maintaining its own brand. Comfortable balancing site-level autonomy with platform-level standards.
  • Radon mitigation, vapor intrusion, environmental contracting, or other niche IAQ specialty experience, ideally with an existing rolodex of GCs, asset managers, or property owners.
  • Participated in 2+ acquisition integrations as a senior operator. Understand 'light-touch' integration versus heavy systems harmonization.

Qualities

  • Player-coach by instinct: You get your hands dirty in the market, with customers, on job sites.
  • Independent point of view: You can disagree with the board, kill projects, and stake out positions early. Directly but cordially, you don't wait for consensus to voice dissent.
  • Commercial DNA: You wake up thinking about how to grow the business. Tangible commercial outcomes motivate you. Frustrated when growth stalls.
  • Trust-builder with founders: The current site leaders have run these businesses for 30 years. You respect what they built, don't dismiss institutional knowledge, and earn their trust so transitions happen with their support.
  • Credible in blue-collar environments: You walk a job site, speak the language, and earn respect from technicians and field crews. You understand bidding, scheduling, labor, and handoff.
  • Patient self-control: You think through outcomes before speaking. You won't trade short-term wins for long-term trust with field crews, founders, or the board.
  • Tenacious follow-through: You sustain momentum through friction and don't get rattled when the work gets unglamorous.
