General Position Summary: Responsible for the care and safety of preschool-aged children and infants for our weekday childcare facility. Important role which entails the safety of the very vulnerable and dependent. The ability to understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the Parish
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the Parish and the Diocese.
- Abides by the Confidentiality Policy outlined in the Diocese Employee Handbook
- Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
- Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
- Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the program.
- Arrange medical attention for ill or injured participants per parental instructions and diocesan guidelines
- Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
- Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the Parish, children, and staff.

- The Diocese, Pastor, Deacons, Business Manager, and employees.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
- This position works in a typical classroom environment.
- Required to work a shift or parts of a shift
- Required to manage moderate levels of stress
- Required to work in standard school conditions
- Requires lifting and picking up toddlers.
- Required to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of emotion
- Required to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather
- Ability to accept work interruptions while remaining focused on duties.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and up to 60 pounds with assistance.
Travel Requirements:
- Infrequent travel, by car, may be required to Diocese Parishes and/or schools.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Minimum of a High school Diploma
Knowledge and Skills Preferred:
- Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
- Knowledge of child development, learning, and behavior
- Able to manage student behavior in a program setting.
- CPR/ Pediatric First Aid certified (may complete after you are hired)
- 24 clock hour annual training in Texas childcare and Fort Worth Child care training. (or willing to train)
- Demonstrated ability to listen empathetically, make peace, and de-escalate
- Demonstrated history of good judgement.
- Demonstrated aptitude for adaptability and flexibility.
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow directives from pre-school director
- Ability to receive, understand, retain, and complete verbal and written tasks.
- Ability to work independently as well as in teams.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and work efficiently with staff, clergy, religious, and laity.

FLSA Designation: Non-exempt, Occasional, 1-19 hours per week
