Position Summary
ARC is seeking an energetic, patient, and enthusiastic Preschool Sports Instructor to lead fun, age-appropriate pre-sports classes for preschool-aged children at Green Lake. This position supports programming during the Spring, Fall, and Winter quarters. The successful candidate will also be asked about availability and interest in teaching Summer All Sports Camps.
The Preschool Sports Instructor introduces young children to basic movement skills, teamwork, and a love of physical activity through structured, play-based sports activities.
Employment Type: Part-time, Seasonal (with potential to become year-round)
Desired Start Date: April 3, 2026Work Schedule:
- Wednesdays: 4:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.
- Fridays:

Preschool Sports Instructor duties and responsibilities include:
- Plan and lead developmentally appropriate pre-sports activities for preschool-aged children
- Teach basic motor skills, coordination, balance, and teamwork using age-appropriate games
- Create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
- Manage small groups of young children with clear structure and encouragement
- Prepare equipment and assist with setup and cleanup before and after classes
- Communicate professionally with ARC staff and site supervisors
- Follow ARC and Seattle Parks and Recreation policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
Summer Programming Expectations
- Opportunity to teach Summer All Sports Camps for elementary-aged children
- Summer schedules may include some weeks with 6–8 hours per day
- Summer participation is optional but preferred for continued and expanded employment opportunities
Preschool Sports Instructor requirements include:
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in a recreational, educational, or childcare setting
- Ability to lead group activities in a fun, safe, and structured manner
- Enthusiasm for physical activity, sports, and early childhood development
- Background in physical education, recreation, early childhood education, or a related field
- Experience teaching sports or movement-based classes to young children
- Experience working with elementary-aged children
- Familiarity with play-based and child-centered instructional approaches
Pay:
- Starting Pay: $25.00 – $27.00/ hr
- Full Pay Range: $25.00-35.00/hr (employee may earn up to $35.00/hr with continued employment)
