SUMMARY
Oakwood School seeks a caring, energetic, and dependable Preschool PM Teacher & After-School Recreation Leader to support students throughout their school day and beyond.
This unique position combines two important roles within the Oakwood community. This position will work as part of the Preschool teaching team, supporting classroom instruction, student supervision, routines, and the social-emotional needs of our youngest learners in the morning, while transitioning into Oakwood's After-School Program to support elementary and middle school students through recreation, enrichment activities, homework time, and supervised play.

Hours: Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
Preschool PM Teacher
- Work collaboratively with the lead teacher to support the daily classroom program and curriculum.
- Assist with small-group and individual learning activities.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, rest/nap, transitions, and indoor and outdoor play.
- Support positive student behavior, independence, social-emotional development, and classroom routines.
- Prepare classroom materials and help maintain an organized, welcoming, and safe learning environment.
- Build positive and respectful relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Provide classroom coverage and additional student support as needed.
After-School Recreation
- Provide active supervision for elementary and middle school students in the After-School Program.
- Help plan and lead engaging recreational activities, including sports, games, arts and crafts, enrichment activities, and special events.
- Support students with homework and other academic needs as appropriate.
- Encourage positive relationships, inclusion, sportsmanship, independence, and responsible decision-making.
- Maintain clear expectations and provide consistent, age-appropriate behavior support.
- Ensure students are safely supervised during activities, transitions, and dismissal.
Other Duties and Responsibilities

- Support and follow school policies and procedures.
- Participate in Admission events, including Open House, New Student Orientation, and applicant interviews.
- Attend various staff meetings, Back-to-School Nights, commencement ceremony, and other events as directed.
- Classroom coverage as needed.

Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience working with school-age children and their families
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with arms and hands, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-30 pounds
- Ability to speak and hear and see near and far
- Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to escort students to different classes, to recess and to field trips, etc
- Ability to perform repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment
- Ability to work at a desk/computer for extended periods of time
- Occasional to frequent interruptions
- Ability to adapt to a variety of different environments with varying levels of noise, temperature, physical space, etc.
Compensation
This position has an expected hourly range of $22.00 - $32.00.
