Position Summary
ARC is seeking a creative, enthusiastic Preschool Art Instructor to lead engaging, age-appropriate art classes for preschool-aged children at Green Lake. This position supports programming during the Spring, Fall, and Winter quarters. The successful candidate will also be asked about availability and interest in teaching Summer Art Camps for children ages 5–12.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, fostering creativity, and supporting early learning through art in a fun and nurturing environment.
Employment Type: Part-time, Seasonal (with potential to become year-round)
Work Schedule:
- Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. (Preschool class)
- Additional hours available during summer art camps
- Desired Start Date: April 1, 2026
Preschool Art Instructor duties and responsibilities include:
- Plan and lead developmentally appropriate art activities for preschool-aged children
- Support creativity, self-expression, and fine motor skill development
- Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
- Prepare lesson plans, materials, and classroom setup/cleanup
- Communicate professionally with ARC staff, site supervisors, and caregivers as needed
- Follow ARC and Seattle Parks and Recreation policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
Summer Programming Expectations
- Participation in summer art camps may be offered for children ages 5–12
- Summer schedules may include some weeks with 6–8 hours per day
- Summer employment is optional but strongly preferred for ongoing and expanded opportunities
Preschool Art Instructor requirements include:
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in an educational, recreational, or childcare setting
- Passion for art, creativity, and early childhood development
- Ability to manage small groups of children in a structured, playful setting
- Background in art education, early childhood education, or a related field
- Experience teaching art or creative classes to children
- Experience working with elementary-aged children (ages 5–12)
- Familiarity with play-based and child-centered learning approaches
Pay:
- Starting Pay: $25.00 – $27.50/ hr
- Full Pay Range: $25.00-35.00/hr (employee may earn up to $35.00/hr with continued employment)
