
The NYU Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools (NYU Metro Center) is seeking a dedicated healthcare educator responsible for leading and delivering comprehensive pre-nursing education programs that prepare students for success in nursing school and healthcare careers. Responsibilities include: oversees curriculum implementation; develops engaging lesson plans; mentors instructors, and provides academic support to students in subjects such as anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, and nursing fundamentals; ensures instructional excellence through evidence-based teaching practices, student performance monitoring, and compliance with educational standards. Must be committed to fostering critical thinking, clinical readiness, and professional development in aspiring nursing students.
NYU Metro Center is a research and professional learning services center that supports equity-focused, evidence-based innovations in educational research and programming. We operate as a complex collective of multiple sub-units with different areas of specialization.
NYU Metro Center’s work falls into five categories: 1) technical assistance to districts and schools; 2) professional learning to teachers and leaders; 3) applied research and evaluation of district and school programs; 4) scholarly research conducted by NYU Metro Center researchers and NYU faculty affiliates; and 5) youth development programs including college readiness, youth-led advocacy and organizing, and youth participatory action research. NYU Metro Center has a history of experience providing assistance and mobilizing resources to address a variety of issues related to educational inequity, segregation, disproportionality, discrimination of all kinds, and social injustice.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
This postition is hybrid, 3 hours per week, and starts July 13, 2026.
Principal Responsibilities:
- 30%:Plan and implement tutoring lessons based on a curriculum for small groups of students.
- 20%:Meet weekly with students to discuss needs and progress.
- 30%:Communicate student progress/needs with Guidance Counselor and appropriate staff; assist Guidance Counselor with follow-up for seniors applying to college.
- 20%: Manage timely submission of program paperwork detailing direct services to students
This position will serve Serve 10-50 high school students during the school year and summer program combined.

Critical Thinking & Decision Making the person in this position will plan and implement academic and PreRN related instruction to high school students. They will gauge learning and evaluate their own teaching to make any changes necessary to best support students.
Internal/External Contacts: Teach students, meet with school Guidance Counselor to discuss student progress, meet with PreRN team for updates, professional development, and overall support.
This position will supervise 1 assistant instructor.
