Job Description

Hourly pay: $17.00 to $19.00 per hour (Depending on experience.)

Schedule: Saturday-Wednesday, 11:00 AM-7:00 PM Location: 3205 N Twyman Rd, Independence, MO 64058 Join our residential adolescent behavioral health program in Independence, MO, working a consistent Saturday-Wednesday, 11:00 AM-7:00 PM schedule preparing meals for teens and staff. As a Prep Cook, you'll help provide nutritious meals in a structured residential treatment setting that supports adolescents on their path toward wellness and recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and portion fresh meals and ingredients for adolescents and staff in a residential behavioral health setting.
  • Support daily meal service by working closely with the culinary team to ensure timely, consistent, and high-quality food preparation.
  • Complete food prep tasks including chopping, slicing, washing, marinating, and recipe preparation while meeting food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely, including mixers, blenders, slicers, and other food preparation tools.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready kitchen by following ServSafe principles, sanitation procedures, and infection prevention practices.
  • Assist with inventory organization, food storage, labeling, and stock rotation (FIFO) to support efficient kitchen operations and reduce waste.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by helping with meal coverage, special dietary needs, and high-volume food production as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 2-3 years of cooking or food preparation experience
  • Experience with large-volume food preparation preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, food storage, and kitchen operations
  • ServSafe Certification or Food Handler Permit preferred
