A Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and supporting kitchen operations by following recipes, prep lists, and standard operating procedures while maintaining health department and food safety standards.

What you'll do:

• Inspect food preparation and storage areas to ensure safe, sanitary food-handling practices
• Wash, peel, chop, portion, and prepare ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards
• Assist with basic cooking tasks and preparation of sauces, dressings, stocks, and other menu components
• Label, date, organize, and properly store food items to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage
• Ensure the cleanliness and proper sanitization of work areas, equipment, utensils, dishes, and storage areas
• Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas
• Assist in restocking and replenishing kitchen inventory and prep stations throughout shifts
• Follow prep lists and complete assigned tasks in a timely and consistent manner
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes using various kitchen utensils and equipment
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of walk-ins, dry storage, and prep areas
• Observe and follow all allergy, dietary restriction, and food safety procedures
• Operate standard kitchen equipment safely, including slicers, mixers, food processors, and knives
• Assist Line Cooks and kitchen leadership with additional prep and operational needs as directed
• Support overall kitchen efficiency by maintaining readiness for service and communicating low stock or prep needs to leadership

Who you are:

• You have state-issued food handling certification as required.
• You have related experience in the culinary or hospitality industry preferred.
• You must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace.
• You are able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• You are able to speak effectively before guests and groups of co-workers.
• You are able to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
