TITLE – Preconstruction Director

Location – North West

What you will be doing:

As a Pre-Construction Director you will be responsible for leading the successful identification, preparation, development and submission of tender bids and managing any post tender queries. Whilst carrying out the role, you will promote the Galliford Try business, seeking out and advancing business development opportunities to drive revenue and ensure the Company secures adequate new business to achieve targeted turnover and profit levels with appropriate year on year growth.

About you:

  • Ensure the compliance of the bid management and business development teams with corporate governance.
  • Lead the overall bid process from identification of opportunity to tender submission and award and handover to the delivery teams.
  • Proactively develop and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities.
  • Complete detailed assessments of the required bid deliverables.
  • Identify internal and external support requirements.
  • Agree, manage and deliver to the bid budget.
  • Establish a bid win strategy to maximise chances of winning the bid at the required levels of margins.
  • Develop and manage the bid programme identifying key dates for the submission of information, review dates, deadlines and production of the bid.
  • Develop submissions in line with the bid requirements including assisting with the drafting and reviewing bid text.
  • Chair bid team meetings, preparing meeting agendas, issuing updates and clarifications to the bid team.
  • Ensure timely submission of bids to the required standards.
  • Develop strong relationships with existing and potential clients through collaboration.
  • Review processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Have full leadership and management of the bid teams including motivating and coaching team members, and providing developmental support to enable them to provide excellent commercial and procurement services.
  • Foster a culture whereby employees feel able to contribute positively through sharing ideas and best practice.
  • Collate feedback / lessons learnt to improve tender performance
  • Oversee marketing strategy
  • Produce and maintain tender success statistics
  • Produce monthly Board report and input into annual Business Objectives
  • Developing Social Value strategy and Objectives

Personal

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstration of adaptable communication skills.
  • Proven experience of building effective working relationships at all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High levels of energy and enthusiasm with the ability to instil this in others.
  • Analyses situations carefully and makes rational judgements and logical decisions.
  • Manages time efficiently, plans and prioritises work activities.
  • Proven success in leading and winning bids/tenders.
  • Proficient people management and leadership skills.
  • Results driven with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Strong Preconstruction Background in either Estimating or Bid Management, with experience of working at a senior level.
  • Likely to be educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Computer literate with knowledge/experience of Microsoft suite i.e. outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint.
  • Management/Leadership qualification.
