Job Description

At Hynds, our precast concrete products help build New Zealand's infrastructure — and it's our production teams who make that happen. We're looking for a hands-on Precast Supervisor to lead our precast team in Pokeno: someone who sets the standard on safety and quality, keeps the plan on track, and gets the best out of the people around them.

If you're a frontline leader who takes pride in a well-run shift, a quality product, and a team that's safe, motivated and firing, we'd love to hear from you.

The role

Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll provide day-to-day frontline leadership of our precast production team — driving safety, quality and output while developing your people and keeping the production plan on track.

Day to day, you'll:

  • Lead the daily supervision of your area, with safety and quality front and centre
  • Keep production on schedule — coordinating resources, moulds, materials and plant to hit daily and weekly targets
  • Own quality control for your area, driving down rework, rejects and waste
  • Champion a safe work culture through visible leadership — toolbox talks, pre-starts, JSEAs, inspections and prompt incident reporting
  • Develop your team leaders and crew, allocate work effectively and lift overall capability
  • Drive continuous improvement and hold the team accountable to KPIs
  • Manage production costs, inventory, housekeeping and asset maintenance to best practice

About you

You're a hands-on leader who backs your own judgement and cares about doing the job right. You'll bring:

  • Previous supervisory experience in a precast manufacturing or production environment (essential)
  • Confidence reading and interpreting plans and drawings
  • Gantry / overhead crane skills (ticket 3800)
  • Class 1 licence with F (forklift) endorsement
  • A solid, practical understanding of workshop health and safety
  • An understanding of reinforcement (an advantage)

Just as important, you're a genuine team player — reliable, safety-focused, a strong communicator, and someone who stays calm and solutions-focused under deadline pressure.

Benefits

  • Health insurance (subject to eligibility criteria)
  • Access to company partner discounts
  • Employee Assistance Programme
