Pre-weigh Associate

Participates and supports the compounding activities of the organization by providing pre-weigh actions as outlined by work orders.

Position Responsibilities-Tasks-Deliverables

  • Enforce Hazardous Material Handling Procedures
  • Follows set Manufacturing Instructions, SOPs and GMP.
  • Provides pre-weigh tasks and actions of chemicals for batch compounding or raw material preparation.
  • Ensures all specified material types and quantities of liquid or solid raw ingredients are measured using manual scales or automated systems (if available).
  • Will document measurements and as assigned according to formula varying from 1-gram to 3,000-pounds.
  • Extracts bulk samples for laboratory analysis.
  • May assist in the handling, dispensing and sampling of hazardous raw materials.
  • Assists in the daily cleaning/sanitization of equipment: Scoops, spoons, buckets, drums, kettles, mixers, pumps, utensils and compounding rooms.
  • Performs daily environmental monitoring according to schedule and SOP.
  • Records activity in database system.
  • Moves chemical or material by hand or forklift.
  • May assist in the weighing/mixing of sanitizing agents.
  • Reviews orders for accuracy and completeness.
  • Completes required batch documentation records.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean.
  • Expected to follow all safety protocols: protective gear and equipment.
  • Assists compounding associates in tending mixing tanks, compounding kettles, various mills and mixers, pumps, etc. that compound and mill raw materials used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical products, transferring raw materials from staging areas or compounding areas, transferring bulk product from compounding to storage areas and transferring completed batches via pump or gravity drop into proper containers for movement to storage or other production departments.

  • Demonstrates attention to detail by accurately weighing items and properly documenting lot numbers.
  • Displays workplace safety awareness by following company workplace safety policies and procedures.

Proactive in assisting compounding associates as necessary.

Qualifications

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Hazmat or emergency training or certificates, a plus.



Experience:

  • Previous job specific experience with pre weigh duties, preferred.
  • Compounding experience preferred.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Comfortable taking work direction and applying self-initiative to follow through
  • Able to recognize safety situations and apply smart action to resolve.
  • Prior use of forklift or pallet jack.
  • Competency around hazardous chemicals and signage.
  • Able to compute basic math calculations; familiarity with weight units preferred (kg., pounds, grams, etc.)

Technology/Software:

  • Basic Computer knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office

Communication:

  • Comprehensive ability using the English language: understand detailed SOP’s, formulas and manufacturing instructions
  • Able to read and interpret documents and reports.
  • Capable to write routine forms, reports, and correspondence.

Physical Capabilities

Strength: Lift 50-lbs, repetitive motion, back-bending

Movement: Standing, walking

Hearing: Load work area, receive work direction

Vision: Read signs, computer work, identify details
