The Pre-Sales Application Engineer (Field Product Specialist) provides technical sales support for Product Test Group solutions, including multiLane TEST PRODUCTS’ high-speed I/O (HSIO) offerings and Quantifi Photonics’ optical and electrical test instruments. Working closely with sales team and customers, this role focuses on understanding technical requirements, recommending solutions, and ensuring customer success through deep product expertise and technical support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise & Pre-Sales Support
    • Serve as the subject matter expert for multiLane TEST PRODUCTS and Quantifi Photonics solutions, with a focus on HSIO and photonics test and measurement applications.
    • Provide technical guidance to customers, sales teams, and field application engineers.
    • Help customers identify challenges and recommend effective solutions.
  • Customer Engagement & Relationship Building
    • Build strategic relationships with technical and operational decision-makers.
    • Collaborate directly with customers to define project requirements and identify new opportunities for HSIO and photonics technologies.
    • Communicate product capabilities, application fit, sizing, and competitive positioning.
  • Product Demonstrations & Presentations:
    • Develop, coordinate, and deliver compelling product demonstrations and presentations for prospective and existing customers.
    • Support on-site evaluations and assist in resolving customer inquiries.
  • Market & Competitor Awareness:
    • Stay current on industry trends, competitor activities, and new developments in the HSIO and photonics markets.
    • Provide market and competitive insights to engineering and product management teams.
  • Sales Support & Collaboration:
    • Partner with sales teams to develop and respond to customer proposals and technical requirements.
    • Collaborate with engineering, marketing, and operations teams to deliver a seamless customer experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Photonics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in HSIO and/or photonics test and measurement, ideally involving products such as bit error rate testers (BERTs), time domain reflectometers (TDRs), digital sampling oscilloscopes (DSOs), or optical spectrum analyzers (OSAs).
  • Strong technical knowledge of HSIO and/or photonics test equipment and solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Strong systematic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work alone and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as a Field Application Engineer or technical pre-sales specialist, is highly desirable.
