About the Role
As the Retail Store Manager for LuxLexicon in Malaysia, you will be the driving force behind our commercial success in the local luxury resale market. This is a unique opportunity to act as the ultimate authority on secondary luxury goods, shaping everything from what we acquire and how we price it, to who we sell to. You'll leverage your deep expertise in authentication, pricing, and client acquisition to build a thriving business.
This role demands a hands-on approach, blending sharp commercial acumen with a profound understanding of the luxury resale landscape. It’s less about traditional retail operations and more about strategic market leadership, where your judgement and market insights directly translate into tangible business results. You will be instrumental in establishing our KL store as the go-to destination for discerning collectors and clients in Malaysia.
What You Will Do
Own the pricing strategy for all secondary luxury inventory in Malaysia, considering condition, rarity, demand, and local market dynamics.
Continuously adjust pricing to maximise both profit margins and inventory turnover.
Make critical decisions on which items to acquire and which to pass on, preventing dead stock and capital tie-up.
Provide leadership with insightful analysis on market trends, emerging premiums, and softening categories.
Lead buying decisions for resale inventory, including client buy-backs, consignment, and strategic sourcing.
Evaluate potential inventory for authenticity, resale viability, and financial risk.
Cultivate and manage a robust network of sellers and collectors to ensure a consistent flow of desirable inventory.
Maintain a balance between building strong client relationships and exercising commercial discipline in purchasing.
Personally authenticate high-value and complex luxury items, serving as the trusted expert for VIP clients.
Establish clear authentication standards and decision-making frameworks for the team.
Manage and resolve any authentication disputes with confidence and credibility.
Develop and nurture a personal client book of high-net-worth individuals in Malaysia.
Drive store traffic through exclusive appointments, client referrals, and targeted outreach.
Build strategic relationships with HNW collectors, personal shoppers, stylists, and wealth managers.
Organise and lead private client events, previews, and curated buying sessions to foster engagement.
Translate your deep market knowledge and credibility into direct revenue generation.
Serve as the internal expert on the Malaysian luxury resale market, advising on category expansion and brand focus.
Support future market expansion initiatives with your unique insights and understanding.
Lead, coach, and develop the store team, ensuring high standards of service and discretion.
Partner effectively with HQ and regional stakeholders, sharing clear and actionable market intelligence.
Utilise AI-powered tools to analyse market data and identify pricing opportunities more efficiently.
What You Will Need
Possess at least 8 years of experience in the luxury secondary market, resale, or authentication.
Demonstrate a proven track record in pricing secondary luxury goods, buying and sourcing inventory, and authenticating high-value items.
Exhibit a deep understanding of luxury consumer behaviour and buying patterns specific to Malaysia.
Maintain an existing network of relationships with high-net-worth and VIP clients in Malaysia.
Exercise strong commercial judgment and a disciplined approach to managing financial risk.
Leverage AI-driven insights to inform pricing strategies and inventory acquisition decisions.
Ideally, have experience that spans both primary luxury retail and the resale sector.
Experience handling sought-after brands like Hermès and Chanel, as well as rare or limited-edition pieces, is a significant advantage.
Familiarity with pricing dynamics in secondary markets like Singapore or Hong Kong would be beneficial.
Previous experience in market expansion or launching new retail locations is a plus.
Prioritise candidates with a strong commercial and entrepreneurial mindset, and a proven ability to drive business growth in the luxury resale space.
